Like a few others on here I am a dual citizen (UK/Australia). The issue I have is that my Australian FF Account has an anniversary date at the end of June. I will not earn 350 SC to escape lowly bronze by then. I am about to book a LONE4 to begin in May and finish in September with a total SC earn of around 400 split evenly before and after my anniversary date.

I asume Qantas would ignore my confirmed LONE4 when considering a move to Silver at my anniversary date. However would it be possible to open a second QFF account using my UK address in the next month or so and therefore having an anniversary date in January/February? This would allow me to book the LONE4 in the UK for a Sydney departure using my UK credit card and crediting to my new UK FF account. The bonus being that to join QFF with a UK address is free, the LONE4 is currently much cheaper priced in GBP against AUD and I finally make it up to silver.

Is this an approach anyone else has taken and if so is it something that Qantas allows?

I can't imagine that QF are going to let the same person have 2 different accounts. At a basic level this could only happen if QF think that the 2 account belong to 2 different people. If you want to ask if qantas allow this, wouldn't a better question be if QF will let you move your anniversary date.

Another problem that I see is that you are basically throwing away your existing account. Once you make PS with the second account you are then going to have to continue to use the second account to get any benefits. How much is already invested in the existing account? How many lifetime SC.

If you've already paid money for the first account, I'm not sure that the second account being free is even a consideration.

5.3 Each Member may have only one Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

It would only be possible if the UK person was a different person with the same name.

One way around this would be to ring up and cancel the original account, and then sign up for a new one the next day.

Qantas won't change the anniversary date so that option is gone. I have under 1000SC in my current Australian account and I do not fly on business so chances of making lifetime silver is pretty slim. Will transfer my current points balance to my partner, close the account and open a new one closer to my ticketing date.

What about joining AA and getting the status from your LONE4 with them? From comments elsewhere on AFF that seems like a good way to get status especially if you do a challenge (or something)

L class earning is generally poor in most Oneworld programs. See this table.

Note that AA doesn't credit for CX and EI.
