Hi knowledgeable AFF members!

I recently qualified for Silver with Velocity, and have been advised that I have 2 x lounge passes as a result. I'm flying next week domestically with my partner, and wanted to use the 2 passes for the pair of us to enter the lounge. I called Velocity to check if this is ok, and the person I spoke with didn't know, but eventually came back to me and said the passes are for myself only and that one of them cannot be used to bring a guest with me.

Does anyone know if this is correct? It doesn't seem to make sense to me - either I go in the lounge on two septate occasions alone, or I go only once bringing a guest.

If anyone can clarify I would appreciate it, as I don't want to get to the airport too early if we are not going to both be granted lounge access.

Can be used for you and a guest. I had this exact scenario last Saturday in Melbourne.

Thanks so much for your response. You had no issues getting in? If so that's great - but Velocity really need to learn to give customers correct information.

You may also know the answer to another question I have. As a silver member you get priority check-in - does this also apply to my partner who is on the same booking? Or do we have to queue separately.....

No probs at all in MEL - the older lady on the desk was very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend the breakfasts in the MEL lounge - lots of healthy options and so much choice!! Where are you flying? If you only have 2 passes I would choose your lounge wisely.

And yes, with all benefits, everyone in your party receives the benefits.

When I used my pass earlier in the year it entitled me to entry as well as my partner (who was travelling on the same booking). Since turning Gold, I have used my other pass to guest in an 3rd person in addition to my partner.

Hi there AndyGoodyear.

When I was silver, my benefits re priority were extended to the guest traveling with me at the same time on the same booking.

Re the initial question, I got the 2 passes for the lounge when I hit silver in April, but qualified for Gold in May. I was gold recently when I went to the lounge with my partner and son, and used the two (soon to expire and useless to me as a then gold member) lounge passes to guest in my parents who were seeing us off at the airport (gold doesn't allow the extra peeps - just platinum). It was lovely that I could use the passes in that way. Virgin have been great like that and am glad I've swapped from Qantas. In fact, I hit platinum last week so you can see I have been impressed with Virgin... Virgin Money on the other hand.... (well it would be off threat so I won't go into that...)

Don't tell Virgin, but I got four guests into the Adelaide Lounge as a Gold. :p

I fidn that if the flight is delayed or there is some issue on their end, they're more accommodating to allow in a few extras if they're on the same booking. I've been lucky enough to have this happen coming home from CBR (flight delayed 90 minutes and Lounge was far more pleasant) and ADL (that ultra-windy day in SYD in early September this year) where an additional has been allowed in. In relation to the OP - at ADL it was myself and my mate who used the two passes (on my card). Similarly, the policy I've been told is that anyone who is on the same booking as the status member may use priority checkin (saves time and energy for everyone really...). A little perk you may also wish to use is the seat allocation 14 days prior to departure. Similarly, you can do this for everyone on your booking.

FLying from Sydney to Gold Coast next week.

So from what some others here have suggested - I should be able to get myself and my partner in, but this may only use up one of the lounge passes?

When I did this they took both passes for our visit (at MEL). When my partner qualified as silver and we used the lounge at SYD (2 weeks ago) they only took one...however the lounge receptionist made a point of saying she was only taking one as opposed to the 2 that should be taken. So you should expect 2 to be taken and if at their discretion they only take one then that's a bonus.

Great - thanks. And a big thank you to everyone who has posted here. I can always rely on much more information here than by calling Velocity or Qantas themselves.
