2024 F1 Thread

Heinz-Harold Frenzen has been active on X (twitter) - he was close friends with Roland and like many thought very highly of Ayrton. Related his guilt regarding strongly campaigning for Roland to get an F1 seat.

He lost a friend and an idol in 24hrs. Worth reading some of his posts for some context on that time.

Newey free to join rival teams in 2025

Interesting excerpts -:

…it is understood that he will no longer play an active role in technical developments at the team and will not be involved in meetings on future car progress.
While Newey originally had a contract that ran until the end of 2025, and had a further non-compete clause that could have sidelined him for another 12 months, his legal representatives have agreed with Red Bull to an earlier parting of ways.
Red Bull has announced that Newey’s contract will end in the first quarter of next year, with it understood that from March he will in theory be free to join a rival outfit.
It is understood that Newey has ruled out any interest in going to Aston Martin, but Ferrari does remain an option – with it suggested that team principal Fred Vasseur met privately with the famed F1 designer on Tuesday to try to move things forward.

So maybe this has already been discussed, but listening to the news sport segment tonight they reported on F1. Of-course no F1 report cannot include the mention of Max Vestappen. Did you notice I did not write SH in place of the S, so why do news readers insist on pronouncing poor Max's name as Vershtappen?

Some great defending by RIC to hold off SAI in the sprint race, for a nice 4th place finish. Hilarious with the own goal from HAM to then drop down 20 seconds at the end by getting caught speeding in the pit lane. A nice collection of points for RB (4th and 8th).
Yep, great result for Danny in the sprint race and a real shot in the arm for his season. Not going to be too critical of him for missing out in Quali (as he seemed to suffer largely from similar issues as Norris did in Sprint Quali with lack of rear grip) and his Quali was always going to be hampered by his unfortunate 3-place grid penalty. Hopefully he can recover well as I think he's otherwise pretty quick at Miami.

It was surely an impressive performance from him in the sprint race but he should be scoring some points in the main races too. Yuki has been outperforming him consistently this season.

Don’t disagree with you. Hopefully he’s starting to turn his season around.
