New Qantas Multi-City Booking System

How is everybody finding the new Multi-City booking system Qantas use?

For starters, the first 100 people to book a multi city trip get a bonus 20,000 points. Good thing I need to book one soon. :D

I'm wondering if anyone else has found flaws in the system? I find it a lot more buggy that the previous one.

Eg:Capture.jpg

I would think 50mins for two A380 connections in SIN would be a bit tight...

Got a multi-stop international trip with Qantas on the cards? Then move fast, because the first 100 Qantas frequent flyer members to book such a jaunt will pick up a free 20,000 frequent flyer points.

Qantas is offering the deal as part of a promotion around changes to its online multi-city flight booking system. To quality you need to book a trip of at least three flight segments, and only one of these needs to be a QF flight number. The 20,000 bonus points will come on top of whatever points your trip is already set to earn.

International trips only. Would BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN qualify?

Re: New Qantas Multi-City Booking System

The offer states this:

A multi-city flight is made up of at least 3 flight segments, containing at least 1 QF flight number.

So, I used the multi-city booking tool to book:

MEL-HKG-NRT-HKG-MEL.

It has 2 QF flights numbers in it. However, after booking I noticed that the fine print says:

A multi-city booking is qualified as being 3 cities or more excluding forced stopovers

There are only 2 cities in my booking that aren't my origin. I wonder if I'll qualify?

Re: New Qantas Multi-City Booking System

Yeah, I wish this one was a bit clearer - may have also booked a NAN run if there was any way of gauging whether or not it was still within the 'first 100'. Given I only got onto it an hour late I figured my chances of getting into that range would have been limited so I passed.

Red Roo - please pass on to your promotions staff that time-based promotions are great as qualification can clearly be ascertained, but 'first [x]' promotions can engender confusion and apathy about whether or not one qualifies, thereby depressing the possibility of a quick sale (unless you had some other sort of guidance on whether or not the offer allocation had been exhausted).

I don't like it. I have to fight the system all the time now. Weird errors relating to dates, etc. Its barely useful for planning routes, you already need to know everything first - by going to travelocity or expedia then bringing that useful information back to QF.

A step backwards for a tool that was only ever barely usable IMHO.

fine print stipulated first 100 from 9am aest - one could deduce that if you booked within the first minute you'd be in with a good chance .... at least that's my rational. booked J ticket anyway so no biggie if i don't get an e-mail, i will just cancel it.

Not a problem at all if it's on time. They are virtually always in the C-side of terminal one, it wouldn't take you any more than 5 mins walk to get there. As for your baggage, 20-30 mins is usually plenty for SIN.

Not a problem at all, I even managed to fit in a quick dash to the lounge when I did this last year :D

True when I did these flights last year the bags made it to LHR where they then lost them on a 3 hour transit...

It really depends upon the defined MCT for QF-QF connections at SIN.

50 minutes may indeed meet this.

I was sent an e-mail about it at 8.02 am, but didn't check it until recently.

Re: New Qantas Multi-City Booking System

And come to think of it, wouldn't you get extra SC's for doing this? They are 2 different flight numbers... and you would get to London quicker too. If there is a delay, I suppose they can can rebook you onto the original flight, and then you can claim original routing credits too?

So should one go out and book an international multi-trip booking in the hope they are in the fisrt 100 people to book?

I hate these type of promotions as you may as well give someone an entry in a draw for a chance to win something....
