Hi All,

I was wondering what options were available for a SC run out of Sydney before june 26 this year. If I earn 260 SC by june 26th, I will have gold status for flying to london which means I'll get more points. (Also, working out how to get my FF status up has become a bit of an expensive obsession for me.)

What options are there for SC runs out of sydney or anywhere close?

Thanks for your help.

You could fly to AKL on LAN in J for about $700 return (may have gone up) and you’ll get 160SC’s for that.

Seeing as you want SG purely because it will give you more points, you probably wouldn’t be likely to book an Any Seat Award with your points, but if you found a good route in J you’d now earn J SC’s and points for taking such a flight.

Ultimately, 260SC’s is going to cost you a lot to get out of SYD, so are the extra points for a trip to LHR worth it? You’ll also get lounge access, but if you already have QP membership, it seems less worth it, if not, it’s something else useful.

As a Silver you’d earn 26,466 points return. Gold only earns another 5,292 more at 31,758, in economy.

Not cheap but Gold status also means lounge access on top of an extra 25% status bonus.

June 4 SYD-BNE QF economy 10 SCs $98 ($75 during sale) + accommodation in Brisbane
June 5 BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN business 180 SCs $655 + accommodation in Nadi
June 6 NAN-SYD-BNE business 120 SCs $655
June 6 BNE-SYD economy 10 SCs $98 ($75 during sale)

Total 320 SCs for $1506 + 2 nights accommodation.

You dont need to worry about accom if you sleep on the plane, that run is 340SCs not including your positioning flight, and you could come back to SYD direct then BNE ;)

Interesting. I tried your flights listed above and it prices out to AUD1,606 for 340 SCs at AUD4.72/SC. A quick way to get some SCs.

Were these airfares half the price recently or is that my imagination?

If you cannot get D in a segment it pushs it up, here is the lowest you will get going via SYD, the MEL direct Friday night flights are hard to get:

Tuesday nights work better:
