3 class aircraft sold as 2 class

I was hoping that we might be able to put together a list of routes that regularly use a 3-class aircraft, sold as 2-class.

I do not think that there are now any routes which meet that criteria now that the aircraft updates have been pretty much completed

There are none that happen routinely any more. This was an anomaly during the reconfiguration phase, and that has completed. In fact, for the AVOD upgrade program, Qantas is replacing some 2-class 744 operations with 743 aircraft, namely the QF25/26 route.

The only time there is a substitution of 3-class aircraft now is if there is an immediate maintenance issue that requires last minute substitution, and that is not common nor something to book around.

Brisbane-Los Angles-Brisbane is your best bet for seeing a 3-Class 744. Just yesterday VH-OJO operated QF 175 BNE-LAX. VH-OJQ, VH-OJK and even Wunala [VH-OEJ] have made an appearance in BNE this month.

They are not as rare as you may think. As I've mentioned before, I've heard from a number of sources that QF would like to reintroduce First back to BNE either on BNE-SIN and BNE-LAX [This would be after the delivery of the A380 of course - freeing up some -400ERs and the odd -400].

Further evidence today that 3-Class 744s are frequent visitors to BNE and are not so rare as some suggest.. VH-OJM operated QF 175 BNE-LAX today. That's VH-OJQ, VH-OJK, VH-OEJ and now VH-OJM just for this month.

try and get on QF 175 from BNE that originates in Sydney. i flew into SYD on Saturday the 18th from LA on QF 12. i then transited to QF175 up to BNE. this was a 3 class plane that was operating QF175 and the flight number started in sydney. this may help in getting what you are looking for.

i am on QF176 from LAX to BNE and so i wonder if it will be serviced by one of the planes Wunala Dreaming mentions above.

Are these pre-scheduled to be oped by 3-class aircraft and hence seating allocated accordingly, or are they last minute subs due to unforeseen circumstances?
