Prize Report:
I picked up my football tickets yesterday afternoon from the local Ticketek outlet. All I had to do was hand over the web page voucher and show my QFF card. The tickets were for general admission to bays 39-41 at Aussie Stadium.
Mrs YY was not interested in going so I took a friend. My friend's wife and kids came over and the Mrs drank margheritas while the combined group of kids amused themsleves with the playstation, scooters and various toys.
We drove into Moore Park, arriving approx 6:45pm and went across the road to the
Olympic Hotel to have a few beers and something to eat. After a pizza each ($10.00) and two Stella Artois (my friend payed), we went back across to the stadium, entered via Gate H, and found two seats in bay 39 - under cover, which was good because it had begun to drizzle. Our seats were on the western side of the stadium, about 3 metres north of the southern goal line.
It was a big crowd - 25,557 - bigger than I expected. Before the kickoff, the Minor Premiership trophy was presented to the Adelaide United captain by Frank Lowey.
What a great match! It was 0-0 in the first half but Sydney FC really put the pressure on with a number of shots at goal, all of which happened at our end of the ground, so we had a great view.
After the usual half-time activities (including another beer for my mate, and water for me as I was driving), the second half began. It was drizzling quite steadily at this point so we were appreciative of our under-cover seats. Sydney FC was awarded a penalty early in the second half and scored. The sound from the crowd was deafening. Not long after Adelaide United equalised with a brilliant goal.
After a long period where both sides had some exciting chances, Sydney FC were awarded a free kick quite deep in the Adelaide United half. Adelaide put up a wall but Sydney played an exciting set move, resulting in a scorching shot that went into the top corner of the net. The crowd went nuts.
There was 5 mins of injury time, but Sydney FC managed to hold out the minor premiers until full time, winning 2-1.
Thanks to QFF for the tickets. I had a great time. The crowd atmosphere seemed a lot like the UK Premier League matches, with constant chanting, singing and a steady flow of beer!
