Hi All,

About to book a 7 leg flight with UA for travel in June, and the last leg of the flight is SFO > SYD via LAX.

SFO > LAX - Flight UA368
LAX > SYD - Flight UA839

According to Google, Flight UA368 arrives at T6 Gate 61 and Flight UA839 departs from T7 Gate 77

The layover in LAX is 37 minutes!

I have spoken with United Customer Service twice and they have confirmed that the time should be enough and that they sell it in the system as that. Immigration is taken care of in SFO and our bags are checked through all the way through to SYD from SFO...

I understand that there is a short walkway between T6 and T7...

For those that have been to LAX and been through this walkway, can either of you please confirm whether the 37 minutes will be OK?

Many Thanks!

Cheers,
Ray.

Welcome to AFF, is this all on one PNR? If not you might have fun getting put onto the next flight to SYD.

Are the times landing to take off? If so what is the time you actually have to board the plane to SYD? You may have to undergo extra security screening to board your final flight.

Good luck and hope you make it,

Most importantly the connection is airside, so no need to reclear security.

I would not be mucking around though.

I have a similar connection on a flight sold as New York to Sydney with 47 mins in LAX. United have assured me that this is plenty of time to connect. We fly at the end of April so will let you know how tight it was.

Thanks Ronicat! Look forward to your reply on how you go!

As it is one PNR they have an obligation to protect your travel. This might mean putting you on the next flight to SYD and possibly paying for overnight accommodation for you - not sure if your plans in Oz are time pressured?

If it is being sold that way then you will be fine.

If the first flight is delayed then it is there issue if they delay a flight or do they put you on another flight at a later time.

When you check in I would ask if the flight that you are getting on to is delayed and then just mention that you have a tight connection in LAX and they might put you on a earlier flight if possible.

Just checked and UA have one flight ex-LAX to SYD so you would be overnighting if your inbound flight was delayed.
