So evenly split on whether should go ahead. Most of those voted so far think it will go ahead. Mostly a neutral effect expected on QFF. Mostly think it would not be against the national interest.

Interesting.

Interesting results from a frequent flyer forum.

A slight majority think that the Qantas sale should not go ahead while a slight majority are resigned to the fact that the sale will go ahead regardless. Although some people are concerned, most people think there will not be any changes to the FF program as a result of any sale. The jury is split on whether the sale is against national interest.

Those who voted between my initial post and JohnK's update were much more negative than those who voted before my initial post.

Maybe those who generally post in the morning have a generally varied view from those who generally post in the afternoon/night. ;)

Normally the results of a poll are hidden from the pollee untuil after they have voted. Perhaps the presence of the running poll results influences some people's views?

You could click on view poll results before voting.

Ahh, does that work for pre-voting? I know I can view the poll results before voting but thought that was because I has created the poll.

Yes it does. AFAIK some BB software allows this to be turned off in the poll settings - not sure if AFF has that option.

I don't think it has that option. You can set a time limit and any of these options:
  1. Allow multiple choice: Give users the ability to select more than one answer
  2. Make votes public: Displays all users who voted, and what choice they voted for.
  3. Automatically parse links in text
  4. Disable smilies in text
...

That second one is interesting ...

Your test poll appears in the list of threads but unable to open. Can this please either be made readable by all or deleted (else it will sit in all "New Posts" searches forever)?

I suspect that test poll was created to identify the options available, but was never completed. I have deleted the rogue thread.

Nuthin' like doing a proper field test on the capabilities/limits of the AFF implementation of vBulletin 3 ;) .

(Note to self ... do not start a poll then kill the page before entering poll questions in order to see the options available ...)

Nothing like testing on a production system. Imagine if Qantas did that. We might end up with rogue 737's in the fliying from PER-LHR non-stop in the booking engine. Wouldn't want that would we.
