Hi All

I am 40 points short of WP with anniversary on 31 January 2012. What is the most economical way to get them ex Sydney on a day run using points or pay? You only earn SC on JASA and NOT Classic Awards is that correct?

Any advise would be appreciated.

A JASA to CBR is probably your best bet, there should be plenty of J availability over the holiday period.

I would be waiting for the XMas sales and grabbing a cheap rededeal for adelaide via CBR or similar.

Y to CBR and back is 40 SCs (not discount economy).

If you want to use points, JASA to CBR.

Flexi Savers are around $220 each way, JQ SYD - AVV is $56 one way including the plus package which gives 10SC, so two returns for just over $200, at the expense of having to fly JQ. Alternatively one could always join us for one or two of the F Lounge runs, a rather fit and proper way of being introduced to the WP benefits

A one-way SYD-CBR business flight that earns 40 SC's can be had for:

  • [*=1]$447 - (DOX) revenue fare or[*=1]24,280 QFF points JASA or[*=1]16,000 QFF points and $88
But then you have to get back. This earns 1125 QFF points as well.

A return 'flexi' fare that earns 20 SC's each way can be had for:

  • $438 (VPXI) Flexi economy fare
  • 52,703 QFF points (Flexi 'V' class YASA)
  • 16,000 and $320 (Flexi 'V' class YASA)
This earns 2000 QFF points.

A return trip to Auckland can be had for $229 (SYD-AKL) and you can purchase the ticket coming back on the Qantas NZ site for NZ$229 (AU$176). So total price $405. This will get you 40 SCs total.

Also being an international flight you also have the benefit of duty free and/or being be able to get a GST refund.

Thanks to everyone for their advice . I'd prefer to use points if i can so looks like a JASA in business to CBR or BNE and then a cheap red e deal to get back to SYD may be way to go.

Cheers

What about QF500 SYD - BNE ($117 red e-deal) arriving BNE at 6.30am. Then BNE-SYD departing 7.45am in business Using JASA (22,608 points & 40 SC). QF8 BNE -SYD is an International Flight (coming form DFW) thus i can access (probably wont have time) International QF business lounge in BNE and duty free in SYD is that right? Would 1hr and 45 mins be enough time to get from BNE domestic to international terminal and clear Customs and immigration in time for boarding ( assuming I can check in online for international flight 24. Jr before).

Is this possible? Appreciate any advice/comments

The International F Lounge in BNE is a nice ROOM, nothing more.

You will not be able to buy Duty free as you will have a big D on your boarding pass..... QF8 is also known as QF Late ....
