Hi All,

I am flying on a QF 4x class 747-400 next week, and have been preallocated seat 58K. which is right next to the door, however according to seatguru it is a bad seat.
Has anyone sat in this seat before or at least seen what it is like?

Cheers!

I sat in it once from HKG to MEL;

Luckily:
  • It was a day flight, so I did not have to worry about sleeping, and,
  • My Wife was beside me on my left - I could play footsies with her all trip (and not have to worry about personal space issues).

I would avoid it if at all possible.

It is similar to this seat (29A on 2 Class):

Thanks serfty!

On the phone to QF now to try and change it. The online seat changer is giving me troubles. Here's hoping for an upgrade to a very empty PE or J. Y is very full in almost all classes. I am booked in V class.

Just went online to see what seats are available today, and I was able to select 40A! which is bulkhead row right at the front of economy (behind PE) note that I am only a QP NB! :)

I am not sure that is correct - I asked for 58A/K a few months ago on QF29 (much better than 46A/K - the seat is not as close to the slide enclosure, so you have (imo) plenty of legroom) and I was asked to pay for the privilege (by the QF Premium desk). I ended up sitting in 48A if memory serves.
I will research this further then; I'm sure such a statement was made.

(Perhaps the extra ~4" before the cowling in row 58 makes a big enough difference or the QF agent was simply incorrect.)

Did online check-in today for both my Domestic and international legs, seq # 2 and 1 respectively!

Lets hope a nice OP-UP comes my way tomorrow! :)

The international connection checkin counter at Sydney was empty when I arrived, had to hunt down the attendant by asking one of the staff at dom bag drop, finally someone came over to checkin my bag.

Just arrived at Syd Dom QP, lounge dragon didn't even want to see my card just waived me through into the lounge..

Next is MEL international QP this afternoon. Lets see how it compares to syd dom lounge.

The only issue is that it is a cocoon! No nice views of the Airport...

But yes, better grub, booze etc..

Don't trust the time on the computers at Syd dom lounge!...

My computer said it was 12:55 when really it was 1:15 and my flight was 1:30.. had to make a dash to the gate when I looked at the time on my phone.

The Mel QF Business lounge is great! very classy..
