I love how Qantas gave me a voucher for a significant delay on a flight. It was $250. They then took out $60 when I went to redeem it, because you can only redeem it at Qantas Travel, so the charge is $60. Isn't this crazy?!

Maybe they considered this in the decision of how much to give,

Last time I received a MPD voucher , I was able to book over the phone and post it into QF. Did it not permit this?

Dave

A few years ago I received a voucher from QF for AVOD not functioning properly on a flight from SIN-MEL and Qantas Travel waived the service charge at the time which I think was $35.

Dave, they gave an option to post it, but it's $60 regardless as any ticket issued through a Qantas outlet now costs that much.... I think it's pretty poor that they do this! I've emailed FF to see what their cust service has to say about it.

I don't understand. When did QF make this change? As far as I am aware the service fee for using Qantas Travel, in one form or another, has always been there but they waive the service fee when redeeming a QF Voucher sent as compensation.

So basically a $100 voucher is only worth $40 and a $50 voucher is worthless. I find that hard to believe and I think someone at Qantas Travel has made a mistake....

I had a $500 voucher a few years back that was for compensation and they waived the in branch booking fee. This should still be the case.

It gets worse - last week I used a $1200 credit from a previous (refundable) QF flight I'd booked over the Internet then had to cancel. The travel agent told me there was a $60 reticketing fee and another $50 fee because the new route I was travelling was different from the old one. I must have sounded incredulous because she immediately cancelled the $50 fee. Not impressed Qantas!

I've redeemed $250 worth of vouchers before, and there wasn't even a mention of a booking fee (this was at the Qantas Travel shopfront in the Perth CBD on William St. So I didn't even have to try and wrangle my way out of it  2x Red e-Deals were booked.

I'll definitely have to contact customer care about this issue in the morning!

hi snowyeti - any update?

FWIW I also had a QF travel voucher (as compensation) which they took, without charging any fees at a QF travel centre in melbourne.

OK so after a bit of arguing, calls to FF centre, and customer care, the Qantas retail shop gave me back my $35. Now trying to get $25 back from customer care, who said they'll take care of it, haven't heard from them though. They said they should never have taken it, and the person who took my money is going to learn a lesson on how to use vouchers.

I was also told that I should never have gone into retail shop as you can give the 081 voucher number over the phone. The FF centre lady told me I had to go in and could not do it over the phone.

SIGH. Training issues !

Oh well at least I'm getting some money back!

I've used a few of these vouchers and have never been charged a service fee, but have had to go into the travel shop to redeem them. The knowledge level of some of the staff in those stores is very low.

I hate those vouchers, and have had a few expire simply because I could not use them in time :(

I redeemed a voucher today (compensation) over the phone and was told without asking, that there would be no booking fee.

The voucher has to be posted to Qantas within 7 days and they will then issue the tickets.
