Due to circumstances beyond my control, this weekends flying, which was to net me my last 70 SC and give me Platinum, couldn’t be flown. I’m out of pocket but I have to focus on how to get that 70 in the next 30 days now. My membership year ends on the 29th February and I’d prefer to have it in the bag before then, despite the latest sale starting on that day.

I don’t have enough points for a JASA, and can only fly in QLD, so would appreciate any help/strange routings that you can give me. I don’t mind visiting places I’ve been to before, though would love to visit new places, regional destinations, and not have to spend any nights away (as that would be an additional expense).

It’s looking to me like 3 returns to TSV, but if anyone can suggest something else, I’m all for it.

Thanks!

Feb 18.

Brisbane to Rockhampton $116.00 10SCs
Rockhampton to Gladstone to Brisbane $171.00 for 20SCs

Arrive back in time for the start of the FT AGM.

Blackwater return used to be a good one as the return was via emerald on 2 flight numbers. So 3 lots of minimum earn. But this is no longer available. There maybe alternative similar options involving inland cities like Roma, longreach, and I can't remember the others right now.

Sent from the Throne (80% chance) using Aust Freq Fly app

BKQ-BNE is two flight numbers for $99 on sale late feb, mind you for $84 one way you can do the MKY special which is 20 SC in each direction!

So at that rate 20 rtn to mackay for $3400. That's cheap gold

So in reality, by picking the right dash8 flights up the coast, a couple of days and not many pesos could see me get back to qf gold. Hmmm better look at that

That… and last time I checked Sydney was not a part of QLD. :p

Thanks for suggestions so far. It’s very annoying to see $119 to MEL and $169 to TSV, but I understand why so I don’t need it explained to me :p

I have a feeling this is going to be the most costly 70 SC in my life.

My as well change this to 20 SC to Platinum as I’m flying BNE-xCNS-TSV-xCNS-BNE this Saturday.

Not an attractive dollar amount, but acceptable for such short notice.

Why did it have to be only in Qld?

Also, if you found a JQ sale fare and added the points package you could have done say the $19 fare BNE-NTL.

With 20 to go, a YASA might be an option if you can find one.

Or, if you;'re prepared to fly on 29/2 NTL, ROK and HVB are all around $65 e/w (on sale until end of today).

I can see BNE-NTL-BNE for $49 + $39 on 22/2. Add $17+$17 to get SC/points.

Why do that when you can get 20 Sc for $80 and not leave QLD (or fly the Orange Cancer)? Plus have a QP to visit at every stop ;)

Had to be QLD per conditions placed upon me. I would need to ask for permission to leave QLD, and I doubt they’d say yes to a day trip when they said no to a birthday/engagement party on a weekend :p

Ended up with BNE-ROK-BNE on Wednesday and BNE-xCNS-TSV-xCNS-BNE on Saturday. I could have waited till the end of the month but with 3 flights already down the toilet this past weekend I want to get this sorted before another hurdle appears.

Thanks for the suggestions, they’ll come in handy for the 1200 I’ll need in March I’m sure ;)

Sam you're (no doubt purposely) very vague. The mind boggles whom/why/how long etc.

Enjoy the status run. :D

Sam - you remind me of George Clooney in Oceans 11:

"No sir, I wouldn't even think of leaving the state"... ;)

samh004 is being purposefully vague docjames. Those who know his situation understands the constraints.

I'd love any travel ATM. Enjoy the regional tour ;)
