If you had decided your total budget was $7K (excluding spending money for food etc) what & where would you go (excluding AU, NZ or pacific islands).

Leave April 13/14 and return April 21/22

Must include airfares for 2, accommodation and misc costs such as tours etc

What sort of couple friendly accommodation are you going to get in Tokyo for $125 a night?

Stay at the Hilton like we did on points. Nice Exec. lounge there. :D

Good option if you have it. I still remember (with pain) looking for a hotel room in a hurry. Only room I found city wide was a suite at the Park Hyatt. AU$700 a night.

Q3: Where have you guys already been / where do you not want to go to?

Q1. QF - points will be for upgrading / QF 1 upgrade certificate / Hilton, ~120K points ATM, would be ~250/300K points by then / ICH 1 free night / Rydges 2 or 3 free nights
Q2. Shopping / culture & private tours (i.e. what we do ourselves)
Q3. AU, NZ and Pacific Islands are on the don't want to go list, as is Singapore

I used a business man's hotel in May 2010 that would be basic and average but couple usable. It was about $100 a night. Trouser press on every floor. :!: But a bit out of the action.

Have you thought about trying to use 1 x Y with free upgrade and 1 x points + pay on QF to Bangkok, and then....

1. Pay for a cheapie fare to somewhere regionally in Asia, perhaps:

- Do a tour in India
- Check out Kathmandu and Nepal
- Relax in Thailand: Koh Sahmui?

2. Get a cheap J fare to Europe (I've seen them departing BKK, say ~$2000 ea return, but you need to fly Sri Lankan or Egypt air). Could be a bit of an adventure, you can try a new airline (and write a TR!) and get a few days shopping in LHR, ZRH or FCO for example. Worth a look :) Bestflights is your friend at times like these :)

Some airfares that I've found for your dates are:

- BKK - ZRH/AMS/IST/FCO (Aeroflot) = $2400
- BKK - CDG (Sri Lankan) = $1810
[expensive accom]
- BKK - ATH (Etihad) = $3352
[expensive but you get Velocity points etc]
- BKK - DXB (Sri Lankan) = $1200
- BKK - DXB (Oman Air / Gulf Air) = $1500
[can pick up cheapish accom in Dubai]

OR you could go to Hawaii?
