Hi,

Looking for suggestions on the cheapest / quickest way to build 90/100 SC's. Any suggestions are welcome.

Location: ex. SYD

Can I ask what you are trying to achieve with the 100SC's?

Thanks,

Need another 90SC to Silver.:)

really not sure it's worth it mate...

return to santiago costs almost 2k... maybe if it'd get you to gold or plat but not silver esp with QC already...

You have QP membership, so you should weigh up the additional benefits (if any) you will achieve with Silver. As others have said it is not really worth it for silver.

LAN to SYD not Santiago but I do agree. If you have QP, Silver is really nothing more except 25% bonus mileage. All the rest of the benefits are bestowed to QP members as well.

Back when I was PS, the biggest benefit over QP NB was the Oneworld Ruby status when travelling on other Oneworld airlines. Domestically there weren't any additional benefits that I didn't already get with my QP membership.

PriorityAAccess on American when travelling in Y was the biggest benefit that I used. This isn't available as a QP NB.

These days like serfty has mentioned you also get seat pre-allocation as a PS member.

I would say seat pre allocation, especially at T-80 would be a substantial benefit.

However, only the OP knows for sure if it's worth it.

90SC's? Ex Syd that gunna cost $550, give or take $50.

One way AKL-SYD on LAN costs USD270 and earns 80 SC's; SYD-AKL on QF will earn 20 SC's and cost up to AUD260 (the frequent QF sale prices are cheaper).

And advance seat selection, however that does not change the picture too much when it comes to value.

why the f does the akl syd get you 80? holy ****e what a bargain... I'm going to ditch Air NZ and start doing Lan back...

*edit - just did a search on LAN.com... it's 80 sc cause it's business right? why's it so cheap?

Because it's in J class (business).

yeah just did a search, you posted while i was editing my post,

Why is J class cheaper than the fully flex economy? It doesn't make sense but it love it... them crazy Chileans

Fully flex whY on QF or LAN?

The business class ticket on LAN books into I, which is discounted (NB: restricted) business.

Nah just that I've never seen Business cost less then Econ... and it's a long haul plane as well so the seats are very decent...

The J seats on the LAN A340 are pretty good now that they've done a refit to their "Premium Business" model. It was pretty ordinary a couple of years back before the refit.

Because the flight leaves at 5:50am in the morning; sleep is usually more important to me than getting up at 1:00am Australia time to catch a plane.

I am copping it from the Mrs for falling foul of not having paid for 4 flights on QF so 370
Status Credits earned did not leave her in Silver. Seat selection and the new swipe card to get thru the airport may not filter down to our new Bronze member.
I fought a losing battle even though she has had free flights in J and F and has QC Life.
Very delicate subject despite the nice seating all year.

Yep, I should have mentioned that it was I class.

It's been that inexpensive for several months now; could end at any time.

But yes, 5:50am is a killer*; emigration opens 4:30am.

*Flights that early require an "OMG o'clock" rising.

Almost as bad is coming in on the inbound flight when there's a tailwind - There have been several times I have greeted the "desk dragon"* when she opens the QP doors at 5am, after spending 30-45 minutes swearing at the e-Passport machine that's not working.

* Desk Dragon should be construed as a term of endearment - I have had nothing but good experiences with the QP folks in AKL
