Greetings AFFers,

A couple of questions for those learned flying folk that frequent these forums.

I have noticed for the past few days when selecting (searching) reward flights on the Velocity site, AUH is no longer an option. I tried from MEL, SYD and nothing. It used to come up. Boston, Miami, SFO all still come up so is there something I am missing?

Also - showing my complete ignorance now: I know you can only book V Australia one way fares from Aus/NZ and you need to select "Departing from USA" up the top of the page if you want one way fares from the other direction. What about one way fares from AUH? As UAE is not a country option - are one way fares not available from Abu Dhabi? If I used FFP to redeem a flight from (say) MEL - AUH, how can I get one back? Am I forced to go through Etihad (not that I mind at all)? Just wondering how one goes about this, and if there is any reason for this?...

Any intention for VA to stop flying to AUH direct you think? (With all the VA announcements lately - did I miss that one?)

Just thought I'd ask - knowing me I have probably missed the bleeding obvious :)

Cheers,

Maybe VA have done a deal with the city of Abu Dhabi.... In an effort to populate the city more and drive inward growth they have rewared the airlines for offering inbound flights only.... Your stuck there.... Buy a house, buy a car, get a job, feed the UAE economy....:cool:

sorry to bump this - but has anyone else come across this at all...??? :(

In my experience, Nd it's about 72 hrs old.... You have to rng up if you want to get a redemption flight one way back to an Australian port. I know this because I am flying QF HBA-LHR and currently trying to get a VA flight back but we are stuck in CDG/LHR (well when we get there we are) as Citibank are having issues transferring points and we need to get back and there aren't a whole lot of redemption flights ATM. We really need to get back for a very important engagement and so far I don't think we have a chance. Just don't tell the wife!
