I am considering transferring Citi rewards points to Velocity to redeem for a J flight MEL-LAX in Sep '14

I only have minimal miles in my account right now, so when I try and book the reward I cannot proceed to get a final cost including fuel and other surcharges.

I don't want to transfer the points in just to prive it out and then discover that the surcharges make it a poor value redemption.

Could someone who does have the sufficient miles in Velocity price out:

MEL-LAX Sep 8
LAX-MEL Sep 22

both in J - looks like the direct flight is 105000 miles each way? No idea what the surcharges are....

TIA

You don't need to have the required points in your account, what you see here is the final price inclusive of all taxes/surcharges etc (in this case 122,300pts or 107,800pts and $115.86):

I'd suggest adjusting your dates +/- 1 day as the direct flights are cheaper:

I've just done a search and my results have no direct flights.

A connecting flight via SYD or BNE is 107,800 and about $120 tax outbound.
Inbound similar via connection is 107,800 and about $50 tax.

edit: beaten.

I did see that but what says to me is that it's either the points 105900 or points+cash. I couldn't select any of them to go to the next step which I assume includes all surcharges.....or are you telling me that VA does not charge surcharges on rewards flights?

In this case the "fare" is 94,000pts and the surcharges/taxes are $94.93, or you can choose to pay solely with points which gives you the 105,900pts figure.

The surcharges on VA are substantially lower than on QF.

Can't post the pictures from my phone but I just logged in to velocity and entered the dates. I cleared the cookies and tried again. Same result. I am only red. Not sure if that makes a difference
If I go to next day 94000 points and $23.85
