Hi Guys

Been thinking of doing a JASA. Firstly just to confirm they are eligible for the double SC arent they (i was lucky enough to get the offer) ?

Secondly, i am thinking of flying Mel-Bne Return. Have been wanting to go on holiday up there in July anyway so return it was something like 62,000 points or i think $165 and 48000 points.

I will be Gold by then meaning the points i would earn are 3000 odd and 240 SC with the double promo?

Is this a good use of points or not? I dont mind paying and flying economy for that trip as im going anywhere and have no need to sit in business. But if its deemed a good use to get more SC i would do the above

Thoughts? :)

Yes the JASA’s count.

As for the value, you could probably do better flying somewhere you don’t want to go, but that’s life ;)

My example is a JASA run I priced up for 80,000 points + $300. It’d earn 400SC without the double SC, so with it you’d get 800SC. However I think there are a few members here who could do even better than that.

oh wow ! 800SC would make me hit platinum easily this current member year! Screw brisbane trip. Care to share your idea? haha

Any chance of a copy of the same PM? I booked my JASA (mostly J) flights today for 365 SC and costing about 73,000 points (after points earned for those flights being taken into account) and $400 ex SYD, so curious to see what you came up with.

I didn’t save the PM, but re-wrote it for you. ;)

Hi samh004, would appreciate some tips on how to do that. Could you PM me with the details as well? I have points i want to use for JASA and the tips on how to maximise them for SC would definintely come in handy. Many thanks!

I've booked SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD with all but the TSV-BNE-SYD legs in J class (because I will have got enough SC's and wanted to save some points). I booked this as two separate tickets because the multi-city engine wouldn't work for me. It has cost me about AUD $400 and 73,000 points (after the points earn on this trip as a SG is taken into account), but will earn me 730 SC's with the double SC's promotion.

Hope that helps.

I would love to know the 800 SC JASA too if you'd be willing to share by PM! :)

Gee Sam - I would just dish out the dirt rather then turn the thread into a 'please pm me' reply only :p

Something along the lines of BNE-SYD-HBA-SYD-CBR-SYD-HBA-SYD-BNE.

When I tried SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD before the JASA engine went haywire it was giving 480 SC's, so 960 with double promo. Tried to book that the other day but no TSV-DRW seats available for the days I wanted.

Well I wanted to keep it to myself and not post it for public consumption, as has been mentioned in other threads about sharing with those that’ll reply not those that’ll take take take ;)

AKL-MEL-BNE-TSV in J = 200SC
Make that a return trip and you have 400SC
Double that you have 800SC

Each way = 36000 points + 130AUDish = Total = 72000 + 260AUD
