Hi everyone. I've been 'lurking around the background' for some time, and I thought that today's the day I should take the next step!

My daughter (a poor student) is looking at the costs of 2 one-way tickets to Europe (on 2 different airlines), as opposed to a return ticket with one airline. She has found one that's much cheaper, and it looks good - but are there any hidden traps? She will have one booking reference # out of Australia, and then another booking reference # back to Australia. At this point, I can't see any problems, but I'd welcome any feedback. Thanks!

And it's great to be a member, finally!

[FONT=&quot]Oh no - we've just had a closer look and the flight involves 3 stops, with 2 of them overnighters (at our expense)..... It was too good to be true - you certainly get what you pay for! Thanks for your help anyway!!

Welcome aboard!

I can't see any glaring issues with that. The airline flying her to Europe may ask for proof of return/onward travel at checkin, but that wouldn't be an issue as she would have that.

Welcome to AFF tennille, I don't think there are any issues with 2 x one way tickets, but I am sure someone else with more experience will confirm this or advise otherwise

Welcome to AFF tennille. Interesting that your daughter found two one way trips to be cheaper than a return. Normally the return is cheaper. Is she travelling on LCCs?

Hi. Thanks for the welcome! No, they're not LCCs - they're good airlines - she's looking at 2 different travel websites, and it's what she's found. For some reason it's about $600 cheaper on the 2 different airlines/travel web-sites. So it's looking good....

No issues with two single tickets. I usually buy tickets which are point to point and rarely do I get a return ticket. Usually the first thing immigration ask you (if they ask that is) is for proof of onward travel and as long as you got that covered, you are one step into the country.

Keep in mind that depending on the airline, they may cover the cost of the overnight stop/s if the are a result of the airline's poor scheduling.

Yes, ok if the enquirer knows something about the geography of the region. A Cambodian friend checking in on a QF flight to Bangkok, enroute Cambodia, was almost denied boarding because he didn't have an onward plane ticket. The official had to go through two supervisory levels before accepting that a Cambodian national doesn't need a visa for Thailand and thatyou can get a bus/taxi from Bangkok to Cambodia.
