We positioned ourselves to Sydney as we had a flight to Rarotonga flying from Sydney so we needed a room for the previous night as I wasn't keen on doing a 6AM MEL - SYD for the 10:30AM flight. I decided to go with the Sofitel Wentworth as the price for a Classic Room was $160AUD which was a pretty decent price for a 5 star hotel.
I booked online via Accor and got an instant confirmation of my booking as well as I schemingly booked it under my Platinum status to access all the benefits offered which can be found here.

Shot of the Sofitel lobby filled with flowers and gorgeous aromas.
We arrived and checked into the hotel at 7PM as I had to wait for the other half to finish work for the day. As I stepped into the lobby of the Sofitel, my nose picked up on the very delightful and calming Sofitel scent which certainly did put me into ease as we were warmly greeted and checked in by Ben who recently transferred up from Melbourne. Ben acknowledged my status and promptly handed over 2 drink vouchers, a box of Sofitel chocolates as well as 2 keys to our upgraded Junior Suite.
I couldn't hide the massive smile that I had on my face, We've just been upgraded up 3 room types and I made sure Ben would be getting a very detailed and generous staff comment card from us.
We arrived in front of room 1714 and promptly opened up to find a nice cosy lounge room with a bottle of sparkling wine, strawberries accompanied by dipping chocolate as well as chocolate biscotti awaiting us on the coffee table. The massive king bed was covered in fine white sheets which was most pleasing to the eye. I'll admit that the kid in me wanted to jump onto the bed but being the adult I am, I decided not to.

Our home for the next evening.

The bathroom was huge, a spacious shower , a large bathtub and vanity area.

Mandatory work space and power points.

I found the bed to be very comfortable and accommodating enough for a good nights sleep, the sheets were fresh and crisp and the pillows very firm for dreams to be made.
After a couple of hours of shut eye I was awoken by the sounds of splashing and saw my other half putting the bath to good use.
It was 5:30AM so it was time to get up... but not before my time in the bath too.

Our welcome items.
For guest's feeling peckish, the Sofitel has a variety of food items available on offer from the in room dining menu as well as 2 restaurants: Garden court restaurant and Soirée.
Had too much to eat or need to get rid of some stress? The Sofitel Wentworth also features Elixr, a heath club which offer's free yoga and pilates classes as well as a variety of gym equipment to guest's staying in house, just make sure you take note of the opening and closing time if you decide to sweat.
If you're feeling generous or want to make a special occasion worthwhile then why not book a Luxury Club Sofitel room which provides guest's to a "private oasis" to work and dine in the sanctuary of a private lounge. The club lounge offer's complimentary all day refreshments, breakfast, afternoon tea, evening hors d'oeuvres as well as a free flow of champagne and fine spirits. Private meeting areas and wifi are also available to guests.

In room snacks and mini bar.
Checking out was a breeze, we handed our keys back to Ben and he handed us back our sealed envelope in which I used to deposit $100 for the bond (I really hate handing my credit card over as sometimes the hotel takes a couple of days to clear the funds). He wished us a enjoyable journey to Rarotonga and hoped to see us back again. The Sofitel Wentworth is a very warm and cosy hotel aimed at business as well as leisure travellers which accommodated and looked after us very well! I wouldn't hesitate to return if I found myself back in Sydney.
