A pikelet is NOT a pancake (or a popcake)!

Dear Virgin,

While I like the idea of having the machines in the lounge having been a devotee to the BNE HI one for many a year, I do know they can be programmed to make pancakes of saucer size or bigger using the front panel, rather than the pikelets that it seems to be making in the BNE lounge at present! Any chance of this ?????

For the record, the cream is a teaspoon in size!

Pikelet may refer to:

  • Pikelet, an alternative name for a crumpet
  • Pikelet, a type of pancake found in Australia and New Zealand

Agreed - the pancakes should definitely be set to be bigger (the MEL lounge machine also needs an adjustment or two IMHO)

guys, you should really just high tail it over to the QP and J lounge where they are the size of pancakes!

Neither lounge does it right!

That machine in the QP does not produce pancakes - it's pikelets and I'd posit that it's not much better than shake batter you get in the supermarket.

Besides, why have pikelets when the bread selection is so much more appealing in both lounges (after all, it's not just regular sliced bread)...

And letting in families with children who run amok in the lounge is more uncool than pikelets. Yes you, the 'family' who saw it perfectly ok for their brats to run around the MEL lounge at lunchtime today.

Maybe a kids area is in order (aka a cage and a good dose of valium)

No one running around the MEL QP now-never seen it so quiet.I am the only one on the computers,no one at the bar.

not in the ADL QP. No crumpet and no muffins. :( Just sliced white and brown bread.

They have a children's area in SYD and BNE so no idea why they wouldnt have one in MEL.

I agree, there are some wonderful multi grain breads in the lounges which I prefer to eat. I'll also posit they are much healthier.

Aren't these children's areas also known as the DJ lounge? ;)

Why didn't you get up suddenly as one of them was running towards you, not hard enough to knock them over, but maybe just let one slightly run into your leg or have to take evasive action and then let the parents know next time they might be so lucky???

Back OT. I will try taking a picture of the Holiday Inn Beijing pancakes at breakfast this morning. Trust me, the virgin ones rock compared to these babies! #firstworldproblems

The pancakes are looking good in the CBR QP this morning.

Not sure what the plate is. And yes the pancake machine was churning out light brown ones this morning.

Quite enjoyed the lamb meatballs and potato salad for lunch in the CBR lounge yesterday. Will check out the status of the pancakes tomorrow morning.

Using Anytime Acce.... On, wait. Never mind.

FWIW, I prefer them smaller, easier to control portions. What's the difference anyway, can't you just grab twice as many?
