Recently used up my Avianca miles for a Biz redemption from SYD to ORD via TYO on NH.

SYD-HND was the 787..... and it was every bit a good as others have reported. Of course a brand new NH Business class is likely to be good...right?:D

On arrival at HND...EARLY morning..I discovered the next Limousine bus to NRT was 90 minutes away.... and I didn't like what that did to my connecting time... so I sought advice and found that the train to NRT IS now direct.... (I had read many threads before leaving talking of train changes required on that transfer)

Yes, you have to take your bags...but the platform used by that direct train is right under the HND Terminal. I'll be using the train from now on.

On arrival at NRT I was delighted to find the NH agent was happy to check my bags through to my final destination (ABQ via DEN on a separate UA ticket) allowing me to use the bag drop after CUstoms at ORD. The 777 to ORD was of course older...but the FA's were, once again, excellent.

Speaking of ORD...... The NH flight (12??) arrives at the perfect time. I left the aircraft at 22 minutes past the hour.... was through immgration/bag pick up/Customs and on the inter terminal shuttle 24 minutes later.

I have never experienced that at a US entry point before,:mrgreen:

It depends on the train. Some are direct, others require a change at Aoto station.
