In light of the current Qantaslink sale (BNE-LRE $65 one way), a friend and I have decided to make a journey to Longreach and visit the Qantas Founders Museum.

I've always wanted to go, but went on the train gathering when there was a trip scheduled last November.

Anyway, we've booked and of course anyone else wanting to come is welcome.

Flying BNE-BCI-LRE on QF2532 departing 8:35am on Saturday September 10.
Returning LRE-BNE on QF2535 departing 4:10pm on Sunday September 11.

Of course there'll be dinner and drinks on in the evening - I'm open to suggestions, or will find something :)

Very tempted. Have been before but willing to go back. I think the sale finishes tonight? Will consider today, try and work out any conflicts and hopefully book tonight.

I have always found the accommodation to be overpriced in Longreach. Normally when I go there I drive and camp for free by the river. So nice.
Will think about it but am away in ZQN (fingers crossed) the weekend before and before that am lying on a beach in FNQ. I might actually need to do some washing and sleep :D

Similar to Tae I'm hoping I'm still skiing in ZQN by then. If it was later I'd have certainly considered it and might book something later if I can.

I did the Founders museum but not the hall of fame. And I now have a mate living at Winton!

I've booked. 130+ cc fee isn't too bad. Sale fares on sun seem to be scarce unless they add more tonight. Was warning less than 5 seats.

Bugger. If it's that good, then maybe another trip might be in order later :)

You're right. There was more availability when we booked yesterday.

These book into Q.

I can see Q8 on the outbound flight, Q3 on the inbound. X8 and X9 respectively if anyone wanted to use points.

We're also staying at the Albert Park Motor Inn.

I assume that even with your impending move to Brisbane that you're still heading to LRE in Sept?

Just booked Albert Park Motor Inn myself ($115 single through Expedia). Just checked flight prices again, and wow - $370ish return now. Bring on another sale, and more AFF'ers coming up !

I'll have to keep an eye out for the next Qlink sale. I couldn't go on that weekend.. oh well!

Would like to go but am in NTL that weekend and Noosa.

Do you need to subscribe to flights from Brisbane to get the deals? I've never seen one for LRE from MEL..

Yes, of course. I actually booked ex-BNE in anticipation :)

Wow - glad we booked when we did.

Note that while the fares are expensive, E/F shows at least 9 award seats on both flights (12k points + tax) - so that's an option, or wait for another sale.
