Hi Guys,

I am flying Mel-HK on Friday in Prem Econ with a upgrade request to Business.

I am currently sitting in the front row, aisle of the middle bank.

However, there is the exit row seat on the window and exit row seat on aisle of middle bank available also.

Are these basically the same as sitting in my front row seat or should i move to one of them?

Thanks guys

Had exit row aisle going to LA last year and it was great.

The gent next to me turned his footrest into an ottoman through the use of a backpack, pillow and blanket. Well worth doing for the comfort factor!!

sat in an exit row from Lax-Mel, would suggest exit row over bulk head, seems to have far more leg room.

Grab the exit Window ASAP!

I have sat in 34D and it's a good seat (more room than the middle bank of rows 35, 36, 37 and 39), but would take 38K in a heartbeat over any other PE seat.

Would you request an upgrade to J over 38J/K or 36J/K on 747 (58J/36W/270Y)?

I've managed to get 38K inbound, but my outbound 38JK is blocked (to me at least).

How's 38F (middle exit row, aisle seat on the right)? Current avail to me are 36,38,38,39DEF, 36AB.

38F is fine, plenty of leg room, IMO the 3rd best PE seat on the A380 (followed by 38K then J).

FWIW, the A/B seats behind row 34 have a better pitch than the corresponding J/K seat and a much better pitch then the D/E/F seats (other than row 38). (More of a problem when seat in front reclines.)

I've travelled in 36A/B before with SWMBO and they were fine.

As for row 38, the D seat gets a lot of traffic.

Thanks for the advice.

I have the exit row 38 K (window) on LAX- SYD flight in August, but that row wasn't available outbound SYD - LAX so grabbed 34 K. I'm also tossing up whether I'll save my points and not request an upgrade to J.

Just wondering if it gets cold by the exit though?

That's what some other reports have mentioned but I didn't notice any difference. If you have a blanket and wear something "substantial" then you should be fine. It's not like they have the exit door ajar :o

Solution in any case = drink more alcohol?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but have just booked QF94 LAX-MEL next jan for the myself and Mrs. B. With the new seating arrangements on the A380 does anyone have any suggestions on what are now the best seats? Thanks in advance.

24JK or AB (in that order) although the curtain is moderately annoying, plus the overhead luggage space can be restricted. But unlimited legroom and easy in and out of seats. The JK aisle seems to carry less foot traffic.

The middle block of 4 would be reasonable as the leg room looked fine (unless you're over 6"6"!) and the bulkhead protects you from the curtain / traffic in the aisle. Traded off against you'll be next to someone in the middle. But climbing in/out isnt too bad as there's no seat reclining in front of you.

On my own I'd go K then A as my preferences (door isnt that intrusive) and as a couple it's a toss up between the above as mentioned.

Any other row is fairly equivalent, however the recline of the seat in front means getting in.out a pain if the aisle person is asleep (may be less of an issue as a couple - for mrsdoc and I it didnt matter in the past but when travelling alone some people find it awkward depending on your seat "mate"!)

The seat map I'm seeing on the qantas website shows PE to be rows 34-39. Does this mean it's still the old configuration? I'm not seeing row 24 as an option.

If PE starts row 24 then new config and as above.

If PE starts row 34 then old config - seems to be are 38J/K, then 34A/B/J/K, then any remaining A/B seat followed by remaining J/K - the middle seats have less pic. Middle 38 may have extra exit legroom, but it's in a defacto walkway.
