Hi folks. I know the answer to this question is probably on this forum a thousand times but I have searched quite thoroughly and I cannot find any information that syncs exactly with the seat map being offered to me by Qantas when I go in to select a seat. I am flying from Sydney to LAX on Sept 10 and am looking to book an exit row seat. In addition to various ones in the main deck, 35 DEF are marked as exit rows and are available in the upper deck. I assume F would be preferable as it is not on the lavatory side. Does anyone have any direct knowledge and recommendations about these seats. Thanks in advance for yoyr time. I apologize if I have missed the information that is already in place.

I've never flown in whY on the A380, although I did test PartnerJohnM's 80K (it was good) for a few hours while she slipped up to my 12K for a sleep, but as I exited F last year on a newly refurbished bird, I asked one of the people sitting in row 48 what it was like. His response was it's the best seat he's ever had in whY.

Thank you for your thoughts folks. I know 48 is a great seat; I have had it before but at this time only C (the aisle) is available and believe me it is not so good as it is right near the galley -- any overlapping body parts are considered fair game by the crew. So in addition to 48C, the following exit rows are also available:

66 ABK, 79 HJ and 35 DEF on the upper deck.

It looks like 66K would be pretty good but it is directly behind the lav according to the seat map.

I am keen to get this done and dusted. Which seat would you guys pick? Your help is greatly appreciated and I mean that sincerely:)

I would pick almost any seat upstairs, followed by 66A/K.

80A/K (maybe) if flying alone, but I prefer either forward or upstairs now.

66K has plenty of legroom and for me a fair bit of traffic. There is a door that the crew use (crew rest area?) and it was well used. Every time the door opened there was a shaft of light. Very poor sleep for me.

I thought 66A was excellent, followed by 80A (I suspect 80K is the same) and then 35J/K for me.

Thanks Tony. May I ask you what you think of 35 DEF as that is all that is available for me upstairs at this point?

Excellent legroom, in the "coveted" upper deck cabin..but....overhead storage can be problematical in that cabin, and there appeared to be a fair bit of foot traffic to the toilet in front of 35.

Is the door near 66HJK to a crew rest area?

Yes, there are steps on the other side of the bulkhead in front of 66F&G leading down to the bunks - emergency exit where [-]78D[/-] 70D would have been.
