How can you tell what class a booking is made into from the AA website?

Like, does 'Standard' book into N/O, and 'Standard Plus' into V/S etc.. ?

It varies a lot but if you use the Price and schedule page for booking you can find the fare class before you book.

ah yep found it.

Guess I'll do the switcheroo of the FF number just before boarding so AA gets the credit but can use QF status for priority boarding...

Can you please tell me how to do the switcheroo? I bought those Qantas-operated (just between OZ-US) AA-numbered flights: CBR/MEL/LAX/BOS/YYZ/LAX/MEL/CBR.

I cannot accrue points to my QFF account because of the booking class, so I'm going to the AA Platinum Challenge. At the check-in, I'll give my AA number, but I'd still like to use my QFF to get priority boarding and lounge access (hopefully, to the 1st class one by the time I fly).

Easy.. Enter lounge on qf number. Ask for the Ff number to be changed and hold onto the original bp, which u use when boarding

Actually you dont have to put in your QFF number at all.Every one of my AA flights is booked with my AA number.Having AA status does not get me into AC.I show my QP card with my BP with AA number entered-and a big note of my AA status-and have never once had a problem with getting admission-not even a question.

How does it work for priority boarding if there's nothing on your BP? Assuming for someone with no AA status..

I guess I'll do that... enter my AA number and show my QFF card at the lounge and during boarding. I just called Qantas and they said that I could do that without any problems.

Just flash your card again.I do this on AS.But then I have an old blue QP life member card and the response indicates that I must be someone really special as it doesn't show up on their list of QFF cards!

As a rule, it's easier to have a BP with 'PRIORITY AACCESS' on it. This is all they look at when boarding.

I've had zero problems checking in and having my BP issued with my QF number in it, changing it in the lounge, and asking to keep my current BP for the Priority Aaccess. The lounge staff understand, and let you keep that one. Every time i've done this, the points have credited correctly to AA.

I wasn't aware QP membership entitled you to priority boarding on AS? It was only meant to be Boardroom access on QF flight numbers on AS Metal (although evidence to the contrary suggests some people gain access on AS flight numbers as well)...
