Mrs Lime and self going to US AUG next for 19 days all up, stay over in SFO, DFW, MIA, LAS (plus a day either side in LA)

Looking for best value for QFF award and status points flying AA internally.

LAX/SFO
SFO/DFW
DFW/MIA
MIA/LAS
LAS/LAX

Other than a AA OZ booking fee is there any difference between booking here and AA in USA?.

How long before we go should the AA booking be made?

Given the strength of the $AUD atm, it may be advantagous to book on the US site, but just check both US and Aus sites as sometimes there are noticeable price differences.

Calling AA in US is it a free call?.

Is it possible to book online via AA US site and pay with OZ CC?.

Yupp fare is called business class & higher with restrictions?.

On sector MIA to LAS would we get more points with stopover in transit at DFW?

I tried to book some sectors at the US AA site and all was going well until I had to put in my credit card details and then Australia wasn't even listed in the pull down list, so I couldn't put my billing address in....... I gave up and ended up booking at the Australian site - it was a bit wierd - the base price was less, but the taxes were more, so it ended up a little more expensive, but not significantly so. People on here might know how to get round this - it would be useful to know for the future! Yupp is called "Instant upgrade".

It can be:

1-800-881-011
to place calls using Telstra
1-800-551-155
to place calls using Optus

And when prompted dial the normal AA's 1-800-433-7300 number in the States. My call was connected for free.

Yes, I have made five such bookings in the last week. See the earlier linked thread and serch this forum for "El Segundo".

"Instant Upgrade" is correct and yes - First Class LAX-MIA earns 150 SC's, LAX-xDFW-MIA in first earns 120+90SC's (=210).

It may help to thoroughly read the thread I linked to in my earlier post.

And see this one: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-advantage/good-sc-earning-value-ex-8840.html

I now understand the el segundo method! I must have too simple a mind, but wouldn't it be easier if AA just recognised markets are now global and you don't need different websites (although of course they do enable you to make extra money). I can't remember the difference in cost in booking via the Australian site, but it wasnt much and the flghts I wanted were available so I don't think I could be bothered hassling, but then I am very lazy

What is even more silly is they accept Aussie CCs on line when you buy miles-so why not when purchasing a ticket.
You can also get away using 360 Lexington Ave,NYC,NY 10017
That is AAs NYC ticket office.Of course the wrong address for your CC so it comes up declined-but the AA computers dont pick up on it.
Go figure.
So definitely give your address with virtually any zip code you know.

I'm planning to book an 11 segment run next week for June, with the AUD @ $1.06 US it's the time to do it!

Yeah its a lottery with the exchange rate AUD/USD, I'll do mine next few months.

Are you doing yours with AA in OZ or USA?.
