Hi all

Do AA Flights Booked into H class, get Full Economy SC's or Discount economy sc's?

Discount economy SC's - only Y class on AA earns Full Economy SC's.FWIW, by the earnings table it's one QFF point per Mile.

Doesn't that same table also say that B, H, K and Y are classed as the economy cabin class (as opposed to G, L, M, N, S and V, which are explicitly stated to be the discount economy cabin class), meaning that H should earn (full) economy status credits?

Oft asked here!

That table is irrelevant as far as SC earn other than indicating whether SC's are earned or not.

This page has the good oil:

Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Status Credits

For international flights, Qantas Economy is class Y. For travel on oneworld Alliance airlines or Air Pacific, Economy is class Y.

Thanks for that answer and link serfty. However, I still think (and I'm not having a go at you here!) that the Table is apt to confuse, and could reasonably be argued to be "likely to mislead or deceive" within the meaning of the relevant provisions of the Australian Consumer Law.

I do accept, however, that one of the introductory paragraphs to the Table does contain the following:

Where airlines are eligible to earn Status Credits, refer to the Status Credit earn table. It is the responsibility of the Member to check whether a proposed booking is eligible to earn Status Credits and if so how many Status Credits will be earned.

However, I would still ask what point the column titled "Cabin Class" serves in the Airline Earning Table? Or, more specifically, why is there any need at all to distinguish between "Discount Economy" and "Economy" in that Table, if not for Status Credit earn purposes?

I agree it can be confusing; that's why this has been asked many times on this forum. The answer is still the same.

The "Airline Earning Table" appears basically to be for Frequent Flyer Point earn - (SC eligibility, but not earn, is mentioned almost as an aside).

As for the column titled "Cabin Class" in the Airline Earning Table, in relation to AA it simply means that for those classes labelled "Economy" you earn 1 QFF point per mile travelled rather than the ½ QFF point per mile of those booking classes listed as "Discount Economy". (Elsewhere in the T&C [9.3.5], you'll find a minimum point earn for an AA segment of 500 [where points can be earned]).
