Hi All,

Mrs Bob needs to earn some AA miles to get to 20,000 miles - then she can get an award flight. Today I am booking a cheap flight for her from Melbourne to Brisbane with Qantas. Can anyone tell me which Qantas fares will earn miles with AA.

Thanks in advance.

The AA website is pretty comprehensive. The specific page that you want is the partner airline earning page here

The earning fares are:

Code:
First Class	A, F, P	100% + 50% bonus	1.50
Business Class	C, D, I, J	100% + 25% bonus	1.50
Full Fare Economy Class	B, Y	100%	1.50
Discount Economy Class	H, K, W^^	100%	1.00
Discount Economy Class	M, V, L, R^	50%	1.00
Discount Economy Class	G, O, S	50%	0.50

Thanks Simon - that was a fast reply.

One further question - which Qantas fares fall into the H, K, W basket - which are the discount economy fares that still give 100% AA miles?

Bob, you just need to avoid the 'N' class wich won't earn any AA points. Strangely the cheapest Red-e-deals are generally 'O' class which earn but the slightly more expensive ones are 'N' class which won't work for you.

If booking a Red-e-deal the safest way is to ring Qantas & ask them what the fare class is. Note that the earn rate is quite low (0.25 per mile) & you would get better on a 'V' class or higher. Refer to Dave's info on the AA Platinum Challenge for AA points earning:

Qantas Airways

1.5 - B Y

1.0 - H K W

0.5 - M V L R

0.25 - G O S

Super Savers book in S M V L or R

Flexi Savers book in K or W

Fully Flexible book in B or Y
