Look like the floodgates are opening on AA for now on J/F award seats but not SYD/LAX unfortunately.

Wish QF would do the same :)

update:
Just had a AA gander for late Aug / Sept DFW/HKG of J/F lots of seats available 55K points J and 67.5K F, I feel like a circle Pacific coming on :D

They've put a large number of J and F seats on LAX-SYD/SYD-LAX out there. I have a couple of them on hold as I attempt to solidify some plans. A few dates had 4 award seats in J available!

Thought they were only close in like Jan/Feb?.

I see AUG/SEPT SYD/LAX/SYD on AA OK

I now know I should have purchased more AA miles, but as QF has the usual award nix J to USA was thinking of circle Pacific, this is a game changer for me.

However, I looked up QF FF site and going on AA award flights SYD/LAX/SYD the additional fees are a measly AUD$300 for 2 pax, check that if QF flights be 5 times more, its a pet hate of mine why Qantas charge these outrageous fees on J/F when most others don't.

i was very excited to get 2 x J seats Sydney to LAX first thing this morning- i would have preferred Mel-LAX direct, but i was still excited. wasn't expecting to find them today for exactly the precise date i needed.
still at 62.5 AA miles and only around $23 AUD in taxes pp

as with one of the posts above- i am so sickened by the taxes and fees Qantas charges for award flights- i recently paid over AUD1000 taxes for 2 seats in economy + for lax to melbourne. ouch
