AA Priority Boarding Procedures

The gate agents do seem to be running with it correctly - at least that was my experience last week.

OW tiers also tie into the equivalent AA tiers , although boarding passes may not actually show it (eg I was in Y on an American Eagle flight, boarding group 4 - but allowed to board early due to OWE)

Hi Mal,

Does your BP still simply say "EMERALD"?

As I read it there's no reference to equivalent oneworld status. Is that implied (eg. if you're oneworld Emerald you board with AAdvantage Executive Platinum)? Or would a oneworld Emerald board with Priority AAccess (which is third for domestic boarding and fourth for international)?

Anecdotes on FT indicate "oneworld Emeralds" are being asked to board at the same time as EXP/Servicemen/First class ...

I'll report back in a couple of days.

I'm flying across the US on Saturday with AA. :(

Hi Mal,

Some do, some don't.
No rhyme or reason as to which do and don't (Note that I general fly F in the US, so already tend to have "Priority AAccess" anyway.

I had two experiences of AA boarding today, and both were similar but not the same.

Out of LAX OWE's were called along with EXP/Servicemen/First class. At DFW OWE's were not called first up but I boarded without issue when EXP/Servicemen/First Class were called. :)

The two bags rule was enforced and PAX were asked, as they boarded, and when they got further down the aisle, to place the smaller item underneath the seat in front.

I was checked through, by QF to my final destination, but when I looked at the second boarding card it only had my FF number on it and no status.

I rechecked in in T4, there was nobody waiting at the business/platinum/emerald desk. The AA BP's had all of the information on them. See attached - (I removed my FF number!!)

Just has my second experience of AA priority boarding. DFW again.

Exec Platinum, military 1st Class and OWE called together. The guy in front of me was not one of these and was promptly sent back.

I've seen this happen before, too. It shows that not only does AA offer the benefit but it actually enforces/applies it. Very good to see.

If AA (and other US airlines) limit pax to ONE reasonably sized carry on, we wouldn't have to worry about all these different boarding groups. The ONLY reason I want to board early on US flights is to ensure that I have somewhere to place my carry on:shock:

On an AA Eagle flight I took on Thursday, it was announced but not really enforced where where as a flight from LAS on Tuesday it was as my travel companion who is NB was at first refused but later allowed when I told the gate agent she was traveling with me.
