Hi
I booked a AA flight and as I'm currently QFF silver the preferred economy seats were available for me to select at booking, which i have selected. (If have nil status and want to select these seats there was a charge)

When I actually fly I will have lost my QFF silver status.
When I check in will the AA agent ask for proof that I'm still silver ? As I don't want to then be charged for the preferred seat I have selected or will they just go with the seat i have selected at booking. ?
With QFF silver also comes 1 free checked bag, so if I could still get that at no charge that would be a bonus also.

Any info / past experience would be great.

I think this is a YMMV...

I don't remember ever having to prove I was PS to an AA check-in agent, of course if they do turn around and state your no longer PS and you'll have to pay you'll always have the option of saying "I change my mind, put me where ever".

Anecdotal evidence suggests that whatever status you were at the time of booking with AA, it may retain that status on the booking.
It has also been reported sometimes by AFF posters in the reverse where an QFF member made a booking with AA whilst Gold, then later on attained Platinum, but on the day of flying the boarding pass still said Gold, with the fix being to remove the QFF number and enter it again causing a refresh of the most up to date status.

But as others have said YMMV, remember to report back after your flight, we'd be interested to know how it goes!
Have a good trip!

Thanks for the information guys. Ill make sure I report back.

Can you OLCI so you already have the boarding pass in hand? Then you could see in advance what your QF status is in the AA system.

If it's still PS/OWR then you're laughing.
