Setting up a DONE4 ex AKL (great price vs ex Aust) and started off by making the reservation through the AA RTW Desk.
Firstly, these people are really, really good at what they do and didn't bat an eye at my itinerary :p

They have, however, booked me into AA7349 instead of QF93 going MEL - LAX.

Now I have to get into my booking and credit all the flights to my QF FF account and I'm wondering if, as a WP, is there any reason why I need to change the flight no to the QF one? I'm travelling with Mrs Paddy and Jnr Paddy MEL-LAX (they're on JASA's :p) so not needing to upgrade to First. We'll be all happy in J on this occasion.

If you're not planning to upgrade there's no reason at all for the QF93 codeshare (or any other 3 or 4 class flight AA/QF flight you are on).

For 3 or 4 class flights, earning on QFF is the same in the premium cabins whether on the AA or the QF flight numbers.

The following should not be an issue as you booked through AA, but just be aware that if booking on a 2 class AA metal domestic USA flight that with a DONEx, they can book into A class - giving First class earning. (QF codeshare on the same 2 class AA flight generally books into D class - same seat but the lesser Business class earnings).

Thanks, serfty, that was quick!

I'll leave MEL-LAX as AA7349 rather than argue for a change to the QF flight no.

Checked and all AA flights on 2 class AA metal have booked into A class

Next step is to pay in $NZ on Aust CC. Fortunately I'm in NZ at the moment so hoping it will go smoothly

Appreciate your help as always

AA will always try this as i presume they eaen more money due to it being a codeshare

Not a big deal unless wanting to try for an upgrade.

They probably deserve it given they're doing the leg work and it's cheaper to ticket through them than QF.

I have seen reference to the lions share of the xONEx fare divvy up going to the Marketing carrier(s) of the trans-continental flights.

Agree on both counts.
THey've certainly got expertise on that ATW desk.
Last one (my first) was booked with Qantas in Oz.
Took over 45 mins.

I guess when you are dealing in volume, as the AA ATW desk would, you can have some pretty specialised folks.

AA will always try to insist on AA flight numbers on transoceanic segments as that's where the big revenue comes from (as Serfty said).

If you do want to change it - just say you need the QF number for upgrading.

Isnt the op entitled to his 100% bonus too if its a qf number?
