As predicted by many, there is a new AAdvantage buy miles promotion:

Make your fall getaway a reality when you give your mileage balance a boost.

Now through November 13, take 10% off the mileage price. Plus, earn up to 35,000 bonus miles when you buy American Airlines AAdvantage[SUP]®[/SUP] miles for yourself, or add up to 35,000 bonus miles to your purchase when you gift miles to a friend or loved one.

Given the tiered bonuses, you’ll actually achieve the lowest cent per mile cost if you purchase exactly 80,000 miles. In that instance you’d receive 30,000 bonus miles plus a 10% discount. That’s a total of 110,000 AAdvantage miles at a cost of $2,313.30, which is ~2.10 cents per mile.

To compare this promotion to recent ones that AAdvantage offered:

In August 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.09 cents each
In July 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.0 cents each
In early June 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.06 cents each
In early May 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.09 cents each
In April 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.0 cents each
In February 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.07 cents each
In January 2015 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.14 cents each
In November/December 2014 AAdvantage sold miles for as little as ~2.06 cents each

I can't help but think all these AA buy miles promos coupled with their premium cabin TAtl bonuses this year are all about softening us up for a significant devaluation of the program.

Maybe, or perhaps they are just trying to one up United's Mileageplus recent deal that came out yesterday?

Does that include the taxes?

Anyone else having trouble booking flights? Looking from Europe to Aus in May next year and saying flights are available, yet when I click on the flight it says this flight is no longer available and is still sitting there on the page???

An awful lot of phantom availability next year. Got very excited this morning when I saw all the LHR-SYD QF F awards available only to be unable to actually book any of them :(
