Able to book CL??

My friend who is NB managed to book front row Y ??row 23 online SYD-MEL on a 738 got to the airport and was moved back ten rows as CL grabbed the seats. How was she able to book these seats in the first place?

On a 738, row 23 is way back in the plane. Row 23 is first row of Y on 767s and A330s. Maybe your friend got mixed up?
 
Are you sure she didn't jut select the front row shown and didn't 'slide' the plane to show the actual forward seats, as the default for an NB on a 738 automatically how's the back half of the plane.
 
Anythings possible but I would point out she actually worked for QF for several years and was WP for a while so is familiar with on line issues , although not so familiar with status questions. It's not a major point but she asked me as a rhetorical question and I said I know just the place to get an actual answer.

When I was NB I managed to snag the front row, or front few rows of a few A330. I was generally able to do this at t-80. Perhaps the WP shadows had been lifted as the flight was fuller than expected.
