Hello all!

I was just reading through the latest introductions and thought to myself "I still haven't done one of them, I'd better get on to it!". I haven't done it before because I am a bit shy  and I also think "what could I say that hasn't already been said", but here I am! So bear with me, please :)

I've joined a while back, but life got in the way and I only sporadically dropped by, to read a thread or two... Then work slowed down for a while and there were many days and late nights spent reading through the boards, taking it all in, as well as enjoying the trip reports, the photos, the advice and the humor that fills the threads. Before I knew it, I jumped from VA Red to Gold (150 points shy of Platinum as we speak), got a status match from Avianca and I accumulated over 400K VFF points (which we'll hopefully be able to redeem for a nice trip at some point).

When I first joined the craze, my husband used to look at me a bit strange, and always complained when I was insisting that we use certain cards for certain expenses, but... nothing beat the expression on his face when we first walked through the VA Premium entry and straight up to the lounge. He was like one big, happy child, and with each trip and perk (express pass, priority boarding, seating at the front of the plane, etc) his grin only grows larger. Of course, he is now the one making sure he uses the best card in each situation ;)

I could only achieve this due to the wonderful support and tips on the forums, so a big THANK YOU goes to all the wonderful AFFers out there! This is such a great community!

When points and status credits started pilling up, I got very excited and I started talking to other people about it, but most people quickly switch off when they realise there is a bit of work involved... so I have stopped. I hope that, the more I travel and the more I learn, I will be able to contribute to the forum here, and pay it forward! Thank you for having me!

Hello all!

Hi and welcome.

I see that you have already gone through two of the stages that everyone who seeks to optimise their flying goes through...

When I first joined the craze, my husband (wife,gf, bf, parents etc) used to look at me a bit strange, and always complained when I was insisting that we use certain cards for certain expenses,

And are now in the enjoyable stage of enjoying the lurks and perks. Enjoy.

Welcome to AFF! And thanks for taking time to share a bit of your background.

Let me add my welcome Pufoasa, and as kermatu says, thanks for letting us know a little about your background.

Welcome to AFF hope the stages progress nicely to enjoying all kinds of levels of perks!

No problems, we - well most of us anyway, are a friendly bunch and like new members - don't be shy. Now you have a few posts under your belt there is no reason to stop :)

Thank you Steady! I was just reading an article about earning Elevate points for Airbnb stays and I was contemplating sharing it on here somewhere, so I might be on the right track! :)
