I am off to LHR arriving at T3 on QF31. Transferring to T5 for connecting flight to TXL. Departs early August.

I am in J for both flights so no issues with lounge access.

I have registered a points upgrade to F from J for SYD-LHR. Its my first flight on the A380 so very much looking forward to it. Particularly the work paying for J part!!!!

My question is does my QF F SYD-LHR (if successful in upgrade) boarding pass mean that I can access the BA first or concorde rooms at T5 before my flight to TXL?

All feedback welcome.
Cheers
Batesy.

You might not be able to access to Concorde room at T5.

While rules indicate you need to be travelling BA First inbound, there are a few reports that a QF First BP inbound to LHR will suffice.

FWIW, There is no concorde room at T3. However, the 'private dining' area (which is part of the First Class lounge) is reserved for First Class passengers.

Thanks Serfty, I am going from T3 to T5 so won't access the T3 lounges until my return leg in J a few weeks later.

So if you think I can access the F lounges at LHR with my previous legs F boarding pass does that include the Concorde room at T5?

Concorde room is only if you are flying BA in F so no luck I am afraid.

According to oneworld rules your access to the lounge at T5 is based upon the greater of your outbound flight class and your inbound international flight class. That is, if your flight from LHR is in J, but you flew into LHR in F, you can use Galleries First at T5.

The Concorde room is a separate lounge and isn't classed as a 'First Class Lounge' under oneworld rules - only BA's specific access rules apply. On that basis you won't be able to access the Concorde room unless your outbound flight from LHR is in First with BA.

Galleries First in T5 is just fine. Concorde Lounge is not what BA would like you to think it is. The restaurant, in particular, is not a patch on QF First Lounge in SYD/MEL IMHO.

My curiosity about Concorde Lounge is completely satisfied after about three visits. I wouldn't bother trying to weedle my way in again as I did previously in order to experience it.

I can attest to that. I gained entry on a QF First BP inbound with a BA J outbound, but as it was to somewhere like Rome there was no F outbound. I was surprised by the junior guy that they put on the desk into the Concorde Lounge. The combination of a senior citizen who had 'just had a long flight from Australia and always travels F but BA doesn't offer F to FCO' and the junior lounge dragon did the trick ;))..

Your access may depend on the JSA. The whole point of the JSA is to make people indifferent between QF and BA on the Kangaroo route.

If a BA F which lands in LHR and transfers onto the T5 flight can access the CCR then a QF F should technically be allowed. Although this may not work in practice.

Good point, and precisely what I thought (that's why I became 'confused' ;)) - so the BA lounge dragons may need educating on it :).

Sorry JohnM at T5 I will always take Concorde Lounge over the others and disagree with your comments on not a patch on QF FLounge Syd/Melb.

The lounges and chairs you sink into sooo easily, the restaurant has a different style of food which can be serve from private booths, bar style tables or where ever you choose.

Staff are walking thru out the lounge asking if you want a drink/food but the best part is the cabanas which can be booked for upto 4 hrs (sometimes hard to book, there is a private ph no to ring the day before).

As said before by other I don't think you'll be granted access but if there is the slightest chance I say go for it.

Agree that the chairs are squishier but my experience of the restaurant food/wine offering was not as good as that at the restaurant in the QF F lounge in SYD. Didn't try the cabanas.

Not saying it wasn't nice but I would not necessarily go out of my way to get entry if it meant push coming to shove with the lounge dragon as it seemed to require each time previously if I wasn't in- or out-bound in F on BA.

Really just saying to the OP that in my opinion it's not quite as good as you may expect, particularly the food/wine offering.

The final post script is that I got into the BA first lounge.
The staff were confused but in the end the lady at the Concord entry was quite specific and sent me back to the first lounge which was good but no QF first lounge.
