Interesting to see news in other threads on the new Virgin Clubhouse being constructed at LAX. We're flying V Australia later in the year to/from LAX (returning early December) and just wondering if anyone knows whether:

(a) the new Clubhouse will be finished by then?

(b) will PE pax be permitted entry? Will probably hit Silver status while we're away, but doubt we'll get to Gold - will it be possible for V passengers to purchase lounge passes (as with The Lounge on VA domestic) or will entry be restricted to Business Class and Gold pax only?

I don't think there's any plans for V Australia flights to access the VS Clubhouses at this time (hopefully this will change).

At present Velocity Gold and Business pax can access the Alaska Airlines Boardroom at LAX.

One Day access to the Boardroom lounge costs $45USD per head.

I very much doubt that Silver will have any access. And given how busy this lounge would be I also doubt there will be any opportunity to purchase a day pass....

I suspected that might be the case :(

We're looking at buying day passes for the Boardroom as we'll have a fair wait between our flight in from Tucson and flight out to Sydney, but just thought I'd ask the question in case another option might be open to us!

The Boadroom is very small and very average. If I had plenty of spare time between flights, I'd check in for the next flight, jump in a cab, and head to In'n'Out Burger over on Westchester Parkway for a Double Double burger and to watch planes landing overhead in the park outside. It's only about 5min from the terminal.

Thanks for the suggestion pshepvic, but not really an option for us - and actually neither will the Boardroom really, come to think of it, as the Boardroom is airside. We'll have about an 7 hour wait between our flight into LAX and the flight out to Sydney - flying in with Southwest so we can't check our bags all the way through to Sydney and we won't be able to check in for our V Australia flight for Sydneyt until around 6pm (as their check-in only opens 3 hours prior to flight time), so we'll still have to have our bags with us for several hours. Looks like the Relax lounge might be the way to go until it's time to check in.

Ah no worries. Last time we were in transit in LA for 24 hours, leaving at midday, so we drove to the airport, parked in short term parking ($2), checked in at 7am (JAL was open 5 hours early), left the airport to go to In'n'Out burger, did some plane spotting (including watching QF93 A380 for it's first landing into LAX after being grounded), had a Double Double burger (at 9am - not something I'd normally do, but when in LA!) dropped the rental car off, and was back at the airport by 11 to get through security and on to the flight! It's a pity V Australia check in is so late (particularly as I guess you'll have lots of luggage with lots of shopping due to the dollar!) Not sure if there is a Left Luggage service at LAX, as I'd do anything I could not to sit at LAX for 7 hours!

No, not looking forward to the wait! Unfortunately there's no Left Luggage facility at all at LAX since 9/11, so we'll just have to tow our bags around with us.
