I am not a frequent flyer, but I paid for a Qantas Club membership - thinking one day when I may become a frequent flyer it would coming handy to use the lounges. Currently I have enought reward points for a return flight SYD-SIN-SYD with Qantas - which I am hoping to be able to get a FF seat in Feb/Mar 2005.

I have some questions, as I am a novice in the FF and QC:

1. If I am successful in using my points for a FF seat with Qantas, is it correct that I should be able to access Qantas Club lounge at Sydney International Airport and at Singapore Airport? I think at Singapore Airport it is a joint lounge with BA.

2. If I am a member of Qantas FF program, does this make me a member of the Oneworld alliance automatically? If so, then can I redeem my points for one flight with Qantas for SYD-SIN and for another flight with BA for SIN-SYD? If I fly with BA, can I access the Qantas lounge with my QC card?

Thanks for your advice / help.

Correct. Whenever you are flying on QF, BA, AA or us (although not sure for how much longer as far as US goes) you will be able to access that airlines lounges on the day of travel, regardless of how you obtained the ticket, whether it be paid, award or prize travel.

You are automatically entitled to access BA lounges when flying on BA via your Qantas Club membership, likewise AA and US lounges.

(Note, there is a difference if you are Gold or Platinum, but that is outside the scope of your question).

Yes, you can access rewards on other OW carriers, subject to availability of course. Qantas actually has seperate rewards tables, there is a QF/BA/AA only table, a oneworld table and a partner table.

Note that your QC membership will NOT get you into partner lounges, unless you are also Gold or Platinum.

Best way to secure lounge access is by booking in J or F.

Hope this helps.
