Hello all,

With the recent roll out of the new QFF cards with the barcode on the back used for boarding, how difficult is it accessing the QP as a SG without wasting paper and printing one out?

Cheers

For my trip to Melbourne last year i just showed my card and was let in, nothing more asked.. went through to the Business lounge and got seat allocated as normal.

The system changed on the 1 Febraury 2011. Last year you would ahve got in using anytime access, that has been removed now.

I have yet to make platinum, but have never been asked for boarding pass in Melbourne, and often I am checking in IN the lounge anyway, so my card if scanned would not show a boarding pass.

No but it would show a booking for travel. You don't require a BP to be produced before the gate, show your chipped card and they print something like Nandos gives you when picking up a few chooks...........

Yeah, but they've never scanned it - ever - in Melbourne, and until last year I was just QP, NB, so definitely didn't have anytime access!

Mostly they re content to just sight your QC Membership Card.

In Sydney they seem to want to often scan it, but in MEL seeing only normally suffices.

FYI, my QC NB card was scanned in both MEL & SYD last Sat & Sun respectively.

Which is a shame as I was hoping to somehow guest my g/f's parents into QC this afternoon (I have a guest card too) but I don't like my chances.

Still, being waved through on the flash of a card last year, and even your experience before 1 Feb, will not neccesarily reflect the situation post 1 Feb 2011.

Waved through at PER on Friday and MEL today, the latter into the J lounge.

I've certainly travelledthis year domestically - although I've been overseas since the end of Jan so not in Feb, but my access hasn't changed - ie I didn't have any time access before, and they weren't scanning in Melb. But I guess we'll see when I start travelling domestically again at the beginning of March.

As reported in another thread, have only been scanned once on departure from MEL (and I offered the card). Since beginning of Feb, have had half a dozen lounge entries- no scans.

I OLCI and do not print a BP (today is an exception as I 'find' myself on JQ.

Currently in BNE J - flash, smile, smile back, enter.

I am yet to have my card scanned in SYD or MEL on 3 return trips since the 1st Feb 2011.

Waived through in MEL twice already since 1 Feb. Not at busy times either! I suspect it all epends on the Lounge dragon.

Ok, I've highlight the relevant words. There are always variations in people's experiences and also whether particular lounges enforce the rules. I was simply drawing attention to the fact that the rules changed on 1 Feb. I get hassled every time I visit the ADL QC. Maybe I should be annoyed that a NB is getting in flashing a card in MEL. But really, I'm happy that you get that. Of course, there is no point giving someone the expectation that they can just flash their card all the time, it might work in MEL or PER but they are going to have a different experience in ADL.

Sorry Medhead your right, i was meant to say last WEEK, not year..
