I am booked on MH 73 (HKG -> KUL) and MH 125 (KUL-> PER) in business class with an overnight stay in Kuala Lumpur, from 6:30pm to 9:40am. I have a strongish recollection that a travel agent told me that Malaysian Airlines provide accommodation when there are no connection flights. Am I correct?

If so, where do they put you up? Do we get a voucher beforehand? How does it work?

If not, what recommendations for an overnight stay? I was thinking the Pan Pacific.

Not sure about the MH policy you mention, but if it holds true MH will probably accommodate you at the Pan Pacific. We were accommodated there for a night when we misconnected our flight back to Australia due to a delayed domestic connector earlier this year.

The Pan Pacific is a fine hotel and rooms quite comfortable. Though it may just burn a hole in your pocket, especially just for an overnight.

The KLIA airside transit is much cheaper, but obviously not as splendid. An acceptable bed and bathroom is what you will get. Other main disadvantage of the airside hotel is that accommodation is charged only for 6 hours, with a nominal hourly rate afterwards.
