I wonder if anyone has had any experience with the non-refundable rates through Accor?

I found a great rate for the Mecure in Rome and booked it straight away - but I've made a huge error and booked the correct date but the wrong month. Called Accor and they weren't able to help because it was a non-refundable pre-paid so they have told me to contact the hotel direct.

It's the middle of the night in Italy so no one can help me right now, but I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or made the same mistake and how lenient are these hotels generally? Given I just want to change it to the correct date not cancel?

Once I did something similar and the hotel chaged it no problem. Maybe I was lucky and I also had English speakers to speak with. Good luck

Not sure about OS but funnily enough I booked the Pullman on the Park in Melbourne about month ago at a fantastic non refundable rate and when we rocked up last week to check in they couldn’t find our details. After investigating further I was told we had booked in for the 24/6/18!
After being told they were fully booked and feeling like a right royal idiot the manager came out and I was amazed that they not only found a room but honoured the deal. The room was an even an upgrade on what we had booked and even though I offered to pay the difference they would have none of it. To cap the night off a complimentary bottle of bubbly was sent up to our room that night which was apparently part of the upgraded room but nonetheless a fantastic gesture. We have booked a few more nights there such was the lasting impression the staff left on us

Cancellation Policy:
The amount due is not refundable even if the booking is cancelled or modified.

The cancellation policy only states that the booking is non-refundable and infers that a modification can occur.

I have had to change a non-refundable booking on three occasions (two were compassionate) with three different hotels (all of which I have been loyal to) - Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport Hotel, and William Inglis MGallery by Sofitel (Sydney), Pullman Sydney Airport (PSA).

On each occasion I wrote to the hotel, provided my membership number, but did not rub my status in their face, admitted that I was aware that the booking was non-refundable but could they consider changing the dates and I would be happy to incur any increase in rates for the period. ALL of the hotels were fantastic, to the extent that:
  • When I had to also cancel my PSA modification, they offered to carry the credit over for my next stay at a date of my choosing!
  • William Inglis thanked me for my loyalty (so they obviously looked it up) and transferred my booking to other dates with no penalty. (The same room rate was available on those dates at the time of the change).
So the best advice, which has already been proferred is to contact the hotel, do it in writing with a simple Subject Line: i.e. Booking Transfer Request 'BOOKING REF" 22>24OCT2018 to 22>24NOV2018. and then just spell out your case in the blurb. Good luck!

Have done this twice, also told to contact hotel direct ( both were o/s) and both times changed ok. But both times I called almost immediately after the error booking.
