I have been looking at Ibis Glen Waverley, Victoria for one night in March and I was reminded of the time I did not receive QFF points for a prepaid stay at the Mercure Broome in 2007 because Accor said this was an invalid rate. Is anyone aware of any exclusions for earning QFF points on the Accor website? How does one indentify invalid room rates? I had a look at the conditions at the prepaid rate and no mention is made of not being eligible for QFF points.

QF Holidays is offering 1,000 extra points per stay but this time on all hotels not just Accor. The Ibis Glen Waverley is priced at $104 on the QF website and $84 for a prepaid rate, $99 for flexible rate, on the Accor website. Is 1,297 QFF points worth the $20 difference assuming that the room rate is not going to earn any QFF points? This type of return is potentially much better than a mileage run.

Has anyone else had any issues getting QFF points on Accor prepaid rates? Would you book with Accor to save the money and risk not earning QFF points?

I don't recall ever getting QFF points on prepaid rates at Accor properties. I was ADV+ for several years and lived with the facts that I would not get any for the (then) good value. (although, one or twice points appeared out of the blue for some Flexible stays).

I've received a-club points for cheapo inflexible prepaid stays, and I transfer my a-club points to QFF. Next best option for you, when you're sure that you won't get any QFF points direct?

So Accor must have the exclusion of the prepaid rate buried somewhere in their terms and conditions.

I forgot about A|Club. So for an AUD84 stay I would earn ~42 A|Club points, 1 A|Club point for every € spent, which convert to ~42 QFF points. I don't stay at Accor properties that often to make A|Club worthwhile.

To hoard or not to hoard QFF points? The prospect of earning QFF points on this golf trip is too irresistable. Flights, hotels, car hire....

Ahh, the dilemma of a Frequent Traveller ...

I guess for an infrequent user 42 A|Club points is about as useful as a chocolate teapot, especially when you can only transfer to QFF in chunks of 4000 points.

So, only another 95 stays and it'll be worth your while!

Will I live that long and will the QFF program still be around? At 1 stay a year I will be ~140 or at 2 stays a year I will be ~93. :-|

Didn't you get a bonus 500 miles for joining? if so you would be over of the way there ...

Good point. I did not join A|Club. I looked at the A|Club website on how to earn A|Club points and where they can be redeemed and it did not appeal although I did not see the sign on bonus.

I would much rather prefer the 1,000 bonus QFF points + the 287 QFF points for the stay. A little bit closer to the next Oneworld RTW award....

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

I've had no luck getting points credited to QFF or A-Club for 2 stays at Sofitel Melbourne last year. Neither of them were prepaid, but booked directly with the hotel. Any suggestions?

I am not sure any Ibis hotels credit to QFF, however you pay.
I don't know how to upload images onto AFF but on the QF website when I chose Melbourne as the destination it showed a number of hotels available and Ibis Glen Waverley has the caption 3 QFF points per AUD spent plus at the moment a bonus of 1,000 QFF points.

I will take a screen shot of the booking and keep on my laptop to use as proof of the offer if the points do not end up in my QFF account....

I have also had no luck with getting A-club to recognise stays - using their web form results in a form letter in poor English requesting you to scan invoices and send - but this doesn't work! This is despite my being "platinum" on their system at the rollover because I had a Sofitel privilege card (a much more useful thing).

I have taken to sending polite but unpleasant web replies to them as it makes me feel better.

Unfortunately I REALLY like staying at Softitels (esp Melbourne).

Ibis is not listed on the Accor partner site for QFF

Whenever you fly with Qantas, on eligible OneWorld partner flights or any of Qantas’ other partner airlines in Australia and around the world, you can earn points towards Awards flights. Staying at Accor’s Sofitel, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure and selected All Seasons hotels and paying qualifying rates can also earn you points, giving you even more opportunities to earn rewards.

The qualifying rate is generally the best publicly available (unrestricted) rate, except for All Seasons hotels where it is rack rate. At Sofitel, eligible rates are Premium Rate, Smart Rate, Early Rate.

At Sofitel, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure and selected All Seasons hotels in Australia, will earn you 3 points for each dollar you spend. Outside Australia, you earn 1000 points per stay at Sofitel worldwide and 600 points per stay at Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure and selected All Seasons hotels throughout New Zealand and Asia Pacific.

So Qantas is providing misleading information? Why is it always up to the individual to confirm if a hotel stay is eligible or not? At what point is a business responsible for its actions?
