Has anyone figured out how to to do advanced seat selection on a MH booking using the "manage my booking" on the MH site?

The site suggests you can do it at anytime, however it seems you can only do so when making the original booking, or within the 48hr check-in period.

On a recent flight we couldn't get the manage my booking function to work though it was an award seat booked through AA.

So rang up MH and they allocated the seat for me no problems. Very friendly and efficient.

We found the same thing. Give them a call and they'll be very happy to help out. I also had trouble checking in online so again I gave me a call and one of the eager agents checked me in and emailed me my boarding pass. What class are you flying in? The J product is solid and the satay is terrific for 40,000ft.

I'm going in J for work In a few weeks, this'll be my third trip to KUL in J with them this year.

However the booking in question is a self funded trip in Y. Phone centre will only allocate seats for the infant or will charge $130 per person to select seats. The fare itself is under $1000, so hardly worth it.

There's a little trick you can use to get seat allocations when flying in economy. You can ring up their call centre and make requests for special meals. They will automatically allocate you seats, which you can request, and you shouldn't have to pay. I haven't tried this in the last 12 months but it used to work and this was also during the time they were charging for seat allocations.
