Has anyone tried to add an infant to an existing booking?

My wife & I want to book some sale fares for a trip next June (Queen's Birthday) with our as yet unborn child.

Does anyone forsee issues if I try to add the baby later as at the moment we don't know the sex and it doesn't have a name.

Considering you'd need to be allocated a bassinette seat, it may not be an easy task to add on at a later date - particularly if its close to the flying date.

The 737's don't have bassinette's anyway so that's not really an issue as we'd be holding the baby.

You're right, if you don't need it then adding an infant later on shouldn't be a drama.

I've added an infant several times (I'd say maybe 10-20 flights) and it has been very easy every single time and I'm only NB. Most recently added an infant for flights I took earlier this year - It's even been smooth when I have had two or 3 different booking numbers linked, kids meal requests etc. Admittedly these have all been for domestic flights and in more recent years (I've got 3 mini Joda's) they have all been QF. Where the planes have bassinets, I have always been allocated one - on one occasion someone else was upgraded to J so that I could have the Y bassinet - I think had I not had other kids with me then would have got the upgrade! Oh well - plenty of legroom in Y anyway with the bassinet and some guy was no doubt delighted to move to J. I think years ago I used to just request the "Cot" myself as an online special request - but I don't think you can do that anymore. Anyway, I'd say 10 min phone call as worst case scenario.
