Additional Hand Luggage Screening for Flights to USA

I haven't flown to the USA for a few years and want to check -

1. The secondary hand luggage check that occured for USA bound flights still occur? From memory gates 8 -10 at SYD were allocated to many such flights and had the trestle tables set up.
2. If yes, does it occur for QF3? Or does it all occur at AKL as final port before USA?

There is no secondary screening of hand luggage for USA flights.
And none for QF3.
Gates 8-10 are the USA departure gates for QF including QF3.

The only check at them is that you have the security sticker on your passport unless you scored SSS
