ADL - DEL (MEL - ADL - DEL) didn't last too long.ADL ignored by QF again.

Looks like QF is now forgoing stopping in ADL on the way from MEL - DEL, which is now direct.
Didn't last too long.

Perhaps preferable to use the term 'nonstop' as 'direct' can mean 'an intermediate stop, but on the same aircraft'.

I was mystified by this also. I noticed it through FR24, but don't recall QFi having specifically announced the route change.

Was the original reason for the stop due to sector length and minimising the chances of an unscheduled diversion, rather than how many additional bookings could be attracted?

I never understood why QF70 returning from New Delhi didn't also stop in ADL.

For passengers living in Adelaide or visiting there, it meant in one direction, they'd have to travel via Melbourne.

Don't know why exactly, but I would not be too pleased, if I had (I would not but if I had), needed to (now) go via MEL to get to DEL.
I have no plans to go, but I thought in the back of my head, that just maybe, they (QF) would be even thinking about maybe putting back ADL - SIN.
I can dream, I guess.
Probably they found it not financially viable, as the number of people taking the flight from ADL - DEL.
Or not even revenue from freight.
But it would be good to see how far QR will go with their flights from ADL, if they do indeed bring in their A350 some days of the week, as on their future bookings on their website.
If they remain OW, would be better, as well as their new tie in with VA.
(*OffT, one day, I have plans to see real falling snow up in Europe, but that would be a long while yet.OnT*).

The stop in ADL was always a technical stop for fuel due the aircraft being used and the flight being too long from MEL for it. PAX never disembarked and it was a crew change/refueling only. The number of passengers that joined in ADL was minimal. Now they have the aircraft available to do it direct and this was loaded into the schedules some months ago - it's not a sudden change.

I never understood why QF70 returning from New Delhi didn't also stop in ADL.
The aircraft could fly the shorter route back non stop and there was probably a handful that actually needed to get off.

Looks to me like Qantas are now blocking five rows of economy seats on MEL-DEL in the same way as they do for BNE-LAX on the A330 meaning there's now "lie-flat" crew rest available. Previously this wasn't being done, and MEL-DEL was just too long for crew to be able to operate without crew rest facilities - hence the crew change in ADL.

Interesting to see that 20 Y seats are also being blocked now on the return DEL-MEL flight (which has a shorter flight time).
