Hi guys,

First post on the forum and TIA for any input!

I am flying to Europe later this year and I am going to fly from China. Comparing the airplanes flying to and from China and thinking Etihad would be the best bet.

As the trip starts in late June, the partnership between Etihad and VA will be done by that time. What would be the best FF program to go in this case? I fly predominately between Australia, Europe and Asia. Anything based in Asia or Australia would be fine for me.

Look here for partners (broad guide)--> Where to Credit | Where to Credit Etihad Flights
But check the details, including fare class

And welcome to AFF

Hi Mwenenzi,

Thanks for your warm welcome. I did see the calculator for milage but how about status credit? Also any recommendation for the program to choose from in my situation?

I hate to be a no-brainer info-grabber but I am still getting my head around the forum at the moment whilst I am planning for my trip with my wife hahaha.

TIA

For status earning would need to check the rules for each fpp. Not an easy task.

What other airlines do you between Australia, Europe and Asia?
1 trip is not a good basis to select a freq flyer pogram

A starting point: is there is going to be a particular airline or alliance you use the most?

Attaining status and flying regularly with a particular airline may pay dividends with free upgrades, lounge access etc etc
If the airline is part of an alliance, the status (usually at least OW Sapphire and *A Gold etc) will offer some benefits across the alliance airlines.

EY isn't in an alliance, so that's a bummer. If QR flies similar routes, then that could be worth a look as it also provides benefits at home with both QF and VA (in another quirky Venn diagram).
