Hi
My apologies if a similar question has been asked before.
My partner and I are new to the velocity program so would like some advice. Neither of us status.
We will be using delta to fly SYD-JFK; LAS-SYD. I will be travelling for work so I will be in J and he will be in Y (in a discount economy -T ticket).
I travel more than he does. Generally for domestic travel it is in Y or discount Y and he doesn't travel domestically very often. However for most international flights I am able to get J tickets as it is for work, whilst he doesn't think it's worth the extra money.
Family pooling seems to be the way to go, and as far as I can work out I will earn 440 status credits and he will earn 110. So one of us should be able to get gold status -who would it be more beneficial to pool to?
Thanks

Given that you travel more domestically in Y, pool to yourself.

Don't forget you also need 4 eligible VA segments ( ie 4 x VA flights- can be codeshare ) to get your GOLD status even tho you might have the required status credits.

Do you often travel together? if you do ( and you pool to yourself) you can guest your partner into the lounge. If you are the main traveller , best to pool all to yourself.

Don't forget pooling MUST be set up before you travel

Also, who will be travelling the most alone and in economy class. Gold or better is really most beneficial for economy class passengers. If flying in business my view is that status is of far less value - cabin crew are nice and polite to all business class passengers.

Can the Family Pooling member be changed at a later date?

Can the Family Pooling member be changed at a later date?

Yes - However all flights you take up to that date will be pooled to the other account ( ie cannot back date it)

Members can create, modify or cancel a Family Pool at any time on the My Account section of the Velocity Website. The Beneficiary Account and Contributing Accounts will be notified by email when any update is made to a Family Pool of which the Beneficiary Account or Contributing Accounts is a Member

Thanks, I think we will pool to myself as we usually travel together and I probably travel by myself in Y more often.
I wanted to get some objective opinions as I thought maybe I was just being greedy.

@williamsf1 -thanks for the reminder about the 4VA flights.
