AFF Gathering #9 - date choice

With Cairns having won the location choice for AFF Gathering #9, we now turn our attention to the date it should be held on, with the help of a public poll. The option for multiple votes has been enabled, and all votes will be visible.

As Cairns is North of the Tropic of Capricorn, we probably don't want to leave the event until too late in the year. Thus, I eliminated 3 weeks that fell in September and October due to the school holidays, straitman (as perhaps a key organiser) being busy and a long weekend with both the AFL and NRL Grand Finals, to include dates in August when it'll be a little cooler.

Please comment below if you can see events I have missed that may impact others votes on a suitable weekend, as I'm sure we'd all prefer to keep hotel prices down.

3. 21 - 23 August
4. 28 - 30 August
5. 4 - 6 September
6. 11 - 13 September: Cairns Amateurs, straitman busy from the 13th
7. 9 - 11 October
8. 16 - 18 October

Sale ends 15 Jan. Poll closes 7 Feb... I feel you though, I'm an Accor soon-to-be plat myself.
If stats means anything, we are pretty much down to the top 5. Of course, anything can happen, but I'm 90% confident that it would be one of the top 5. (And I have probably just jinxed it by saying that).

Wikipedia (by way of the BOM) tells me the average temperatures and rainfall are:

• August - 17.4 to 26.6 ºC & 26.6mm
• September - 18.7 to 28.1 ºC & 33.8mm
• October - 20.6 to 29.5 ºC & 46.5mm
• November - 22.3 to 30.6 ºC & 94.8mm

Humidity seems to be around 50 to 60% across the dates.

Just thought I would do a quick check on the Hilton prices for the current top 3. The Doubletree is the same price for 2 nights for the weekend of 14/8, 9/10, and 16/10, but the Hilton has a price hike for the weekend of 9/10. Not sure how many of us use the public rates though.

This is certainly a close race, and with only 1 week to go it may turn out just like the QLD state election

Either way, I'm looking forward to starting a thread on the event and starting to get the ball rolling on flights, bookings and what will be on the agenda up there!
